If Paul Ryan actually were a Rand disciple, his voting record would look like Ron Paul's.

I'm going to have a lot of fun with idiot liberals and conservatives this election cycle.

It would almost be worth it to join local GOP and DNC groups just to be a muckraker.

If only Paul Ryan was a Rand disciple. This goes to show how stupid the american electorate is. If anything, the Ryan budgets does not do anything. We should go beyond the ron paul budget. Even Ron Paul does too little.

I was disappointed in the RAN plan, too, but I've come to realize that only year 1 does any cuts, and Ron said in countless interviews and speeches that only the first year matters; there would assuredly be more cuts to come in a RP presidency. He even spoke out against a standing military in a speech to a religious group last year. Ron's way more radical than even most of his supporters think he is. Hell, I'm ancap, and he manages to surprise me fairly often. Hell, he implicitly argued that schools, roads, and police should be handled by the market on MSNBC and ABC at separate times, said in debates that all government is force, touts Lysander Spooner on national TV, and even floated the idea of individual secession on CNN in 2009 - it's beautiful when he lets it fly.

Radical Ron on display:

That's not limited government, that's not tip of the diamond minarchy. That's full-bore, full-throated voluntarism.

I think Chris Matthews should put his money where his mouth is and take care of the poor in his state .

I've heard every person on MSNBC and half on CNN say that or "Paul Ryan is a staunch libertarian". Libertarianism is being co-opted just like conservatism and the tea party. What will the Republicans call them self next? lol

The more he cries wolf NOW the less people will listen to him in 2016.

Chris Matthews is disgusting and evil. He's a anti-human Socialist who believes in modern day slavery. Ryan wants to screw the poor? The poor are screwed by propaganda and policies of the Left that keep people down in exchange for a vote.

The only thing that happens to the poor when you cut government is that you get fewer of them.

The only thing that happens when you "help" the poor by using government is that you get more poor people.

The sad thing is that Chris Matthews doesn't understand that, and Paul Ryan doesn't cut government.

I think Chris Matthews should put his money where his mouth is and take care of the poor in his state .

All these rich Socialists like Matthews could care less about the poor. The poor are used as useful tools to empower themselves by dividing Americans into their class warfare rhetoric. That has always been their strategy - steal, enslave, control, power.

Since LBJ's war on poverty policies, the poverty rate has remained the same after spending $16 trillion. The only thing that has changed is government size and power over the people. Indoctrination is the first step to brainwashing a nation. You move the sheep from being individuals to being collectivists.

It sure helps the media narrative equating libertarians and Republicans as one and the same when those "libertarians" endorse the big spending, warmongering GOP nominee for president.

Oh pshaw. Paul Ryan wouldn't know the writings of Ayn Rand if they fell out of the sky and clunked him square in the head. This is just another ploy by Democrats to make Paul Ryan seem "scary" or "extreme", when he's just as much of a garden-variety statist as Obama is.

Well something good might come out of Ryan being the VP, maybe they won't be so anti-libertarian come 2016. I mean we know Ryan isn't a libertarian but if he makes being a libertarian okay with the rank and file then maybe a real libertarian can succeed in the GOP.

No, it will just convince them that they are real libertarians and we are anarchist scum that should continue to be shut out of the party.

I saw this thread title and just laughed.

I don't even have words for this idiocy that Paul Ryan could be perceived in any terms as a libertarian and the lunacy of Chris Mathews.

I literally just laugh at the media anymore and the majority of the GOP/Dems. They are living in some kind of fictional alternate universe of reality that it is just hilarious to me now. I used to get annoyed at the media, or the GOP, or the Dems... Anymore, I just find it comical.

No. In 2016 he's either the instant frontrunner, or a useful idiot to cut Rand off at the knees (yes I am going to use Rand as the example for the "real libertarian" choice in 2016 - if that makes you go into conniption fits please stop reading now):

- PR will have run a national campaign, RP won't have.
- PR will be 46 years old, thus splitting the "fresh face" vote with Rand.
- This year's campaign will give PR a national platform to elevate himself vs. Rand as "the face of the Tea Party".
- As a member of the opposition party against Obama, PR will be able to continue to give "red meat" speeches on entitlement reform and taxes while knowing none of it will actually be implemented.
- PR will also likely supplant Eric Cantor as the #2 go-to Republican House member in the MSM.
- Although both PR and RP would be up for re-election to their respective Congressional seats, PR will put on the charm offensive ("the GOP needs Rand Paul to remain a forceful voice for conservative values in the Senate") while a whisper campaign suggests that the KY Senate seat will be tougher for Rand to hold while simultaneously running for President than PR's House seat would be (and to be honest this is likely true)

The end result is that a 2016 Ryan candidacy is a full frontal assault by the establishment designed to split the Tea Party vote and siphon support away from Rand Paul.
