Well, theres virtually no jobs in Oregon. Those are in Washington. Most of the numbers are probably from S.Cal retiring in Bend.

I wonder why they say top 10 and then show 11 states.

It makes sense that the states immediately surrounding California would be some of the biggest beneficiaries. That just tells it all right there. California is in the top 10 losers, and every state surrounding it is in the top 10 gainers.

From my notice on other forums I frequent, the exodus from California must indeed be real, or else I've noticed a disproportionate amount of people who have left or intend to leave California.

I've noticed a trend among those:

One, they're predominately conservatives.
Two, they're quite outspoken about disliking Californian politics

From my own personal experience, I've noticed this:

People moving to my state from others do it predominately to retire. The lower costs of living seem to be an important factor. That and it seems a certain amount of interest in the price of land. I suppose their thinking is, they earn their money working in urban areas, often new england or the west coast and then retire elsewhere. Kind of like Florida for more thrifty people.

Otherwise, the move is for business or employment reasons.
Out of these the majority seem to be coming out the rust belt area. They seem to be younger than retirement age. Usually they have families.

Thirdly a certain amount appear to do so for some reasoning around raising a family in a semi-rural environment. Along the suburb-fringes if you will. Those seem to be in their 30-to-40, are employed, have children and prefer to commute to their jobs than live within the urban settings.
A peculiarly strange amount of people from Michigan who dream of I paraphrase, "owning a farm."
Farm meaning, a 3 acre yard to mow and a small chicken house, I guess.

We're looking to move TO socal and believe me I resent it but while I love living in South Florida I don't appreciate the fact that an oz of marijuana is a felony in this medieval state. It's worth the couple hundred extra grand for the same house in socal. If you're younger you won't understand. But when you're pushing 60 and have chronic health problems, the mere thought of being tackled to the ground and locked in a cage for an herb is enough to leave over. So the hunt is on and then ADIFKINOS

One, they're predominately conservatives.

Good. This is what needs to happen. Put the burden on the backs of those who enjoy tax based welfare programs. This will expedite the conclusion that these policies don't work unless you plan on plundering the prosperous.

To me, this is a pretty scary map. The political implications could be serious. Remember they did this to Colorado, too.

California infiltrates Texas, New York infiltrates Florida... When the team Blue folks start living in team Red area, they start demanding government take care of them. There may be no place left to go.

I am surprised North Carolina isn't on that list.

Yes, you're right. The liberals infest and devour everything they come in touch with.

I always thought the infestation would start on the west coast and move eastward across the country, but now I see it's burning the candle at both ends.

South Park had an episode on New Jersey infecting the world. They had to call in al-queda (sp) to save themselves.

kinky.

Those are the ones that move to Austin.

My "gun club" has two refugees from CA (a couple of the more ardent members). They decided to live somewhere it would be possible to provide some personal protection for one's family, and to stop involuntary contributing to socialism. Make of that what you will.

How do you determine if its team blue or team read leaving the area and going to the new area? Maybe its team red people sick of paying for team blue in the states they're leaving?

And what's really bad about all of those sane people leaving is that leaves only a few sane ones left to suffer at the hands those socialists. With less people to pay for their extravagant form of government, taxes are going to go up and drive out the rest of the sane people.

Here is a quote from Congressman Penguin (R-NY-8)
Damn IT! There is no way in hell MY GREAT STATE OF New York is going to get my constituents to a stupid place like florida. I will do something. CUT TAXES, ELIMINATE BIG GOVERNMENT, LIBERTY IN OUR LIFETIME, MORE POWER TO THE STATES. Oh and Vermont shall be annexed by New Hampshire.

Good thing people are not moving to new hampshire, we have too many liberals already (gay marriage should be left to the churches.)

I noticed a lot of Cali lefties moving to Colorado and trying to turn it into the state they left...

The 2 primary retirement states I know are FL and AZ.
Agree that people are fleeing CA to every surrounding state.
They are moving from MA to NH - not good for the FSP.
The largest liberal donor states are going to be the left coast of CA and NYC (not state).

If you look at that map, you might notice donor states are mostly liberal ones (some not listed), but these would be: CA, IL, MA, CT, NY, NJ, DE, MD and DC.

From a political perspective:
Liberals moving to swing states is something to worry about.
Red states receiving liberals will just dilute the liberal population in there stronghold states.
There is a trend where red states receive and Blue ones give.
People don't seem to be moving from blue states to blue states.
Main reasons for moving are going to be cost of living, taxes and oppressive laws and regulations.

So who is moving more? Liberals or Conservatives?

Something to ponder...
