Immigrants lag behind native-born Americans on most measures of economic well-being — even those who have been in the U.S. the longest, according to a report from the Center for Immigration Studies, which argues that full assimilation is a more complex task than overcoming language or cultural differences.

The study, which covers all immigrants, legal and illegal, and their U.S.-born children younger than 18, found that immigrants tend to make economic progress by most measures the longer they live in the U.S. but lag well behind native-born Americans on factors such as poverty, health insurance coverage and homeownership.

The study, based on 2010 and 2011 census data, found that 43 percent of immigrants who have been in the U.S. at least 20 years were using welfare benefits, a rate that is nearly twice as high as native-born Americans and nearly 50 percent higher than recent immigrants.

Shocking I tell you. Foreigners gaming our welfare system. I think when Reagan made that immemorable "shining city on the hill" reference in that famous address, he forgot that maybe, just maybe you don't want to make it too appealing because the multitude of global parasites will entrench themselves. Denmark had this problem, but eventually cut off benefit access to freeloading foreigners, on the account that their entire welfare net was fracturing from the tremendous burden.

So that seems to indicate that they don't bring a weak work ethic when they come, they develop it under the influence of American socialism.

We need to throw more money at this problem. Universal human rights.

So only the Native Americans are doing well? After all, everybody but the Native Americans are immigrants.

It actually indicates that everyone knows the U.S. is a fool's paradise so they come in droves. Can't really blame them on principle. But the system needs to deter this. But for obvious reasons, certain special interests benefit from these migrations and eventual dependency.

And the other half doesn't know how to fill out the paper work.

I know plenty of Greeks and Croats, that would fit the above description, and who are the biggest, most unrepentant welfare queens. And don't forget all the Russians who came over here in the 1970s. They excel in medicare scams. Shrink the welfare state and keep the locusts out.

Simple problem, simple answer:

Just make the successful immigrants pay the welfare bill for the welfare immigrants. If money must be borrowed, lien the assets of the successful immigrants.

Game over, and I didn't even have to know about it while I'm busy living the American Dream.
