Video footage of Harry Reid claiming he supports Auditing the Fed during a debate against Sharron Angle in his reelection campaign during 2012. Now Reid says he will not let this bill go to a vote in the Senate floor. Let this be known to everyone. Harry Reid used this as a campaign strategy because he knew the strong support for audit the Fed amongst Nevadans in 2010. Tell him to live up to the promises he made when running for reelection!

Start listening at 6:25, then Reid's response.

Perhaps someone with skill could make a compilation of Reid's support for Fed auditing.

How big does it need to be? I can modify it.

I might make another with the 2010 quote/image. Anything else I should change? Center it better? Colors okay? Should I add the year to be more transparent?

the year would be great on the bottom part it seemed less 'sourced'.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to describe the size but look at the front page, it needs to physically fit in the center column yet be readable. The colors were great, they looked very CSPAN and credible. If the pictures are too big, they bleed into the right column unless I choose the tiny option, which once again won't be readable.

IS THAT RON PAUL? YOU WON‘T BELIEVE THE ROUSING SPEECH HARRY REID GAVE IN ’95 ABOUT AUDITING THE FED
Posted on July 26, 2012 at 9:26am by Jonathon M. Seidl

Yesterday, the House voted 327-8 to pass Ron Paul’s “Audit the Fed” bill. But the legislation is dead on arrival in the Senate, thanks to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid who has vowed not to allow the Senate to vote on it. But it wasn’t always this way with Reid.

What do I mean? Well, video has surfaced showing Harry Reid ardently defending the idea of auditing the Fed back in the 90s. In fact, he believed in it so much he even championed the legislation, according to watchdog govtrack.us.

In the video of the 1995 speech, Business Insider writes, Reid sounds a lot like Paul:

“I have sponsored legislation every year that would call for an audit of the Federal Reserve system. I offer that amendment every year, every year it gets nowhere,” Reid says. “I think it would be interesting to know about the Federal Reserve. I think we should audit the Federal Reserve — it‘s taxpayer’s money that’s being used there. But we don’t do that.”

“People just don’t care about the Federal Reserve. Maybe it‘s because it’s a subject that’s not very interesting — it’s not pornography, it’s not murder, it’s not an issue that deals with the Wild West.”

Is Harry Reid The Most Hypocritical Man In The World?

http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/pictures/picture-5.jpgSubmitted by Tyler Durden on 07/26/2012 15:55 -0400

While Dos Equis has its most-interesting-man, we think we have found the 'most hypocritical'. Until today we thought Sandy Weill was the undisputed champion in this category, but after seeing this clip we think he has strong competition. At around 40 seconds into this lengthy diatribe, everyone's favorite Libertarian Las Vegan utters the most two-faced hypocritical words that he could possible have uttered: "I think we should audit the Federal Reserve". Between Harry Reid's recent vehement anti-Paul behavior and the whip-order that Democrats received on Ron Paul's bill yesterday, this is stunning. While the sell-out nature of this kind of politician does not surprise us, we thought it prudent for all US citizens to understand the true nature of the political class that decides an increasing amount of our day to day lives.

Yesterday's whip order...

Subject: WHIP ALERT – DEMOCRATS ARE URGED TO VOTE NO ON H.R. 459 – FEDERAL RESERVE TRANSPARENCY ACT

This week, the House is expected to consider H.R. 459 – Federal Reserve Transparency Act. This bill directs the GAO to complete an audit of the monetary policy deliberations, actions, and related matters taken by the Federal Reserve System before the end of 2012, followed by a detailed report to Congress. Most significantly, the bill would repeal existing restrictions on the GAO’s authority to perform audits of Federal Reserve monetary policy activities.

Like all other major central banks around the world, the Federal Reserve is an independent central bank, and its monetary policy actions are not subject to approval by the Administration or Congress. While Congress has set out the policy goals the Federal Reserve is to pursue – maximum employment and price stability – the ability of the Federal Reserve to pursue monetary policy independent of political influence is critical to its ability to fulfill its dual mandate.

Moreover, Congress already conducts regular and robust oversight of the Federal Reserve and actually expanded GAO’s audit authority two years ago in the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. It expanded the types of audits GAO may conduct of the Federal Reserve, as well as the data that must be disclosed to the public. The Federal Reserve’s financial accounts have long been subject to audit both by the GAO and an outside, independent audit firm.

This bill impedes the independence of this critical institution. In order for the Federal Reserve to do its job effectively, it should not be subject to short-term political pressures. The experience during debate on the debt ceiling last summer should demonstrate to the American public that House Republicans cannot be allowed to hold our economy or our critical economic institutions hostage in order to further their extreme agenda.

DEMOCRATS ARE URGED TO VOTE NO ON H.R. 459.

Reid's magical words begin around 40 seconds into the clip...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXOsZ7Ad7dM

Indeed, probably the most hypocritical man in the world...

good article from CNSNews.com, goes more in-depth with his quotes

Harry Reid: 'I've Sponsored Legislation ... For an Audit of the Federal Reserve'
By Christopher Goins
July 26, 2012

(CNSNews.com) – The House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a bill (327-98) this week *to audit the Federal Reserve but the Democrat-controlled Senate is not expected to take up a similar measure there, even though Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) strongly favored auditing the Federal Reserve System several years ago.

On January 25, 1995, Reid argued in favor of an amendment by then Senator Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) that would require the Federal Reserve to a prepare a report to Congress and disclose the financial impact of changing interest rates on the public and private sector.

“I have sponsored legislation that would call for an audit of the Federal Reserve System. I offer that amendment every year. Every year the legislation gets nowhere. I think it would be interesting to know about the Federal Reserve. I think we should audit the Federal Reserve,” Reid said.

He continued, “It's taxpayer's money that’s being used there but we don't do that. Senator Dorgan has spoke out on the secrecy of the Federal Reserve System. He's spoken out on the Federal Reserve more than anyone that I know in either body."

“But even though there is no entity in the world that controls our lives more than the Federal Reserve System, his speeches go unnoticed I'm sorry to say,” Reid said.

I would be above reproach or he can focus on bad behavior instead of his promising for decades to do one thing then breaking that promise at the first opportunity.
