A man was shot and killed by a Dallas police officer on Tuesday, prompting an angry outpouring from the community. Hundreds of people gathered outside of a local grocery store to try to figure out who the victim was, but the police were keeping mum on the man’s identity, according to news reports. The police, some of whom were dressed in riot gear, tried to keep the crowd calm as tensions mounted over the police’s use of deadly force. Before the incident today, Dallas police had been involved in 13 shootings resulting in seven deaths this year.

Some times a false rumor about a "shot in the back" originates from someone seeing a victim rolled over into a prone position (face down) while being examined by EMS or M.E. and a bloody wound is spotted by a curious bystander. The truth however, sometimes is that the posterior (back) injury is an exit wound and the individual was shot from another position. I have personally witnessed this misunderstanding and the resulting spread (unbelievably rapid sometimes too) of such misinformation several times during my professional career of thirty years.

Other times people just make it up to stir up a mob or incite a riot or something. Not saying that's what happened here or in Ca the other day, just pointing out my experience in these regards for your consideration.

It's a hot summer. Draught across the country. People are pushed to their breaking point, have lost everything and have nothing left to lose. Cops are increasingly militarized. Trained and armed by an ever encroaching tyrannical federal government. The tinder is stacked deep and is bone dry.

Keep your wits about you and avoid these situations. If for some reason you're engulfed in it, safely and quickly extricate yourself from the situation. This is not a good sign of things to come.

Mobs of people are inherently dangerous in emotionally charged situations. Whatever happened, street justice is not the best option. It lowers us to their level. Defend yourself, but do not incite a riot.

Think of Oak Cliff as basically south of I-30 and west of I-35 and the Grove as south of I-30 and east of I-45.

If you find yourself south of I-30 and you are in Dallas County, you are not where you want to be. in fact, with few exceptions, if you are south of the northern part of I-635, you are wrong.
