What is the deal with these bands/singers that in their prime they sang about freedom, liberty, the oppressions of government etc..

YET -- you get a guy like Costello who endorses hillary and tons of rappers support Obama.. etc..

YET, we have the FIRST TRUE liberty loving man trying to become a president and all these "down with the establishment" bands are nowhere to be seen!!
One Email blast thru their mailing lists would DO WONDERS for us and Ron Paul.. and the liberty movement...

The msm does it.... yet these bands could wield a ton of influence yet they sit idly while our country goes to shit.

Like Megadeth! Like them or not, they reach MILLIONS..... One email blas to their mailings lists... etc.. or whatever..

I just don't get it. Why aren't they up in arms rallying behind Ron Paul.

I just don't get... is it all talk from them.

you are so right about how people support obama cause he's black *cough* oprah *cough*... And i'd liek to add that Hillary as alot of support simply cause shes a woman... only if people paid attention to the actual issues behind the campaigns and their leaders.

Im very disappointed that no band has come forth and shown support for paul... Ive been emailing fat mike from nofx, to see if he would be interested, since he shows a very anti-iraq war view with his website www.punkvoter.com. And he even hosted an "anti-bush" campaign, right before the last elections, to try and persuade young voters to vote against bush.

i have yet to get a response from him.

you have to understand that most bands and rappers are just corporate whores who do what their producers tell them to just so that can get their measly 1% royalty paycheck, nofx doesnt fall into this category, they own their own label, but 99% of rappers do fall into the category!

If Ron Paul was a black woman, he'd be a shoe-in.

I doubt it. Condi Rice is disliked by a majority of women and black people.

Because all the good bands are European. Ha, yah I think too many of them think they have grown up and embraced socialism.

Agree.

The only one with any credible anti-war material out is Neil Young.

His Living With War is brilliant IMHO. Is it played on the Radio? NO.

Tin Soldiers helped end the Vietnam war. Why no playing of Shock and Awe on the radio?

Also, Bruce Springsteen's new album has a beautiful song that is antiwar. Who Will Be the Last To Die For A Mistake.

I saw in another thread that a Venture Capitalist wants to spend $100,000 on supporting RP. I hope he does. I spent 30 years as a VC. Lots of problems with the industry, but the great thing about VC's is that they are usually early in spotting major trends.

Maybe we should email rock stars that might be sympathetic and try to get their support? I will bet it is because we have not asked.

Metallica was VERY political in their earlier days. You have to believe they were being genuine with an album like "And Justice For All".

But yes, a musician's endorsement would really make a splash. And Barry Manilow's money was great, but he also donated to several other candidates.

I was a HUGE Metallica head, I still know every word to every song on almost every album (except for the recent stuff)

Ron Paul is already viral. We really need a band to endorse Ron Paul so they can reach a number of people that don't vote or aren't concerned with politics. Dr. Paul has the cure for their apathy

LWLI hope so.
We could post at forums related to specific bands:

Santana
Dave Mathews
Metallica
Rush
Gov't Mule
Widespread Panic
Neil Young
Etc.

We need the pro-peace vote, especially in states with open primaries.

I wonder how many bands have it in their contract that they can't endorse any political figures.
