Hey guys!

I was wondering if I could get some suggestions on making my computers and email as private as possible. Every week it seems there's some news story about what the government is doing to eliminate anonymity on the internet. I was just wondering what suggestions any of you may have for an email service? Internet browsers? Addons? Thanks!

What are you trying to hide? Janet already knows that you hate America.

Hahaha! Well why do I need privacy if I have nothing to hide right? ;)

It's just for the peace of mind that the government can't track me and read through my emails, etc. I have heard the Tor Browser is highly recommended for internet and Hushmail for email? Any truth to those suggestions?

Your traffic is unencrypted as soon as you leave the TOR network and can be sniffed by the exit node. I tried it once and quickly discovered that NSA hosts a TOR node and that always came up as my exit node. I stopped using it as it seemed stupid to jump up and down waving a red flag screaming "Hay lookit me!".

That was a few years ago, and they may have added something that lets you limit what exit nodes are acceptable. Anyone know?

Instead of trying to keep your communications private (ain't gonna work) .......Make it your goal to keep at least 7 government employees busy full time tracking and investigating what you write about and who you write to.

browser - not much. chk out "host file", noscript, and flashblocker
email is pgp

privacy-who you sent to and who sent to you is not possible to keep private(except tor, which is compromised)

AH,, I had checked out tor a while back, and used it with other browsers. There is (was) even a plugin for Firefox.

As was mentioned,, the spooks have set up tor servers, and that sort of defeats the purpose.
I consider TOR compromised at this point.

I'm not really all that paranoid. And any private communication will be done face to face,, at an undisclosed location.
