A one time janitor at Shook Elementary school in Marshfield will escape jail time after he admitted to inappropriately touching a student at the school in 2009.
Philip Ingalsbe had a ten year sentence suspended, but he will be on supervised probation for five years, have no contact with anyone under 18 except for family members. He must serve ten days shock time in the Webster County jail, and must register as a sex offender.
He pleaded guilty to a single count of child molestation.

Just not much info to go on. Without more details it's hard to comment on. Just what did "inappropriately touching a student" mean?

Did they rub their shoulder inappropriately or did they touch them in their special secret no-no place?

When I was in 6th grade I went to tap/grab the shoulder of this one girl and I ended up reaching too far over and full palming her breast, completely by accident.

I'm not defending the guy, I have no idea what happened. I just don't know whether to judge this punishment as it could have been something that he did which was unintended or perceived as innocent at the time.

According to court documents, 52-year-old Philip Ingalsbe, a janitor at Shook Elementary School, violated school policy and the law when he took a 10-year-old student into the janitor's closet during school hours. “The child involved disclosed almost immediately afterwards, and went to a teacher. That teacher informed the principal. The principal informed the superintendent,” said Webster County Prosecutor Danette Padgett. The student alleges while inside the janitor's closet, Ingalsbe put his hand inside her shirt, kissed her lips and neck, and put his hand inside the back of her pants.

There's that magic word, "alleges".

Exactly, how many times has someone been raked over the coals because a kid was mad and made something up? I still don't know enough to make any real comment. Does he have a history of any sort of bad behavior? If not, who the hell knows?

There's the first girl I kissed. When we kissed I also grabbed her boob. Back then we were both 14. I guess I grabbed a 14 year old's boob.

no one?

See, this is current events. It is news for our personal enrichment. Instead, we should first be narrowing to what is the American dichotomy. By not narrowing to detect whether an issue is nonsense, one becomes a sophist.

Wow.. those are pretty bad allegations.

As far as the discussion on allegations, I agree that punishments for acts that occur from mere allegation should be a bit less severe than if there is actual evidence. You could potentially be destroying somebody's life when it was all based on a lie. This guy's life is essentially destroyed now, even if he did it he is being punished pretty harshly. He can't even work anywhere there MIGHT be children around. He's now a registered sex offender.

I agree that people who smoke joints shouldn't be in jail at all, but they don't have to register as a sex offender so it's not exactly a fair comparison.
