Confrontation With TSA Agent Leaves Grandpa's Ashes On Floor

http://www.theindychannel.com/news/31224633/detail.html

INDIANAPOLIS -- A man's attempt to bring the ashes of his grandfather home to Indianapolis ended with an angry scene in a Florida airport, with the ashes spilled on the terminal floor.

John Gross, a resident of Indianapolis' south side, was leaving Florida with the remains of his grandfather -- Mario Mark Marcaletti, a Sicilian immigrant who worked for the Penn Central Railroad in central Indiana -- in a tightly sealed jar marked "Human Remains."

Gross said he didn't think he'd have a problem, until he ran into a TSA agent at the Orlando airport.

They opened up my bag, and I told them, 'Please, be careful. These are my grandpa's ashes,'" Gross told RTV6's Norman Cox. "She picked up the jar. She opened it up.

"I was told later on that she had no right to even open it, that they could have used other devices, like an X-ray machine. So she opened it up. She used her finger and was sifting through it. And then she accidentally spilled it."

Gross says about a quarter to a third of the contents spilled on the floor, leaving him frantically trying to gather up as much as he could while anxious passengers waited behind him.

"She didn't apologize. She started laughing. I was on my hands and knees picking up bone fragments. I couldn't pick up all, everything that was lost. I mean, there was a long line behind me."

TSA rules say a crematory container in carry-on baggage must pass through the X-ray machine at the security checkpoint.

But the agency's own website says human remains are to be opened under, “no circumstances.”

"I want an apology,” said Gross. “I want an apology from TSA. I want an apology from the lady who opened the jar and laughed at me. I want them to help me understand where they get off treating people like this."

What kind of evil assholes are the TSA? First they humiliate the elderly, they molest our children, take nude photos of us, and now open the remains of our loved ones and mock us after spilling them? WHAT UNGODLY ASSHOLES! We need to tear this mother down.

Didn't you know? The regulations on the TSA website are just to make the mundanes feel better.

Glad that didn't happen to me, for I would have punched that crass bitch right in her mouth for laughing about it, and then gladly done the time for it. Maybe if enough people stood up to these bullies, they'd get the hint, or people like this would stop seeking employment with them. But no...all we want today is empty apologies, while these types laugh about it in the break room. Pathetic.

STAND THE FUCK UP AMERICA. This shit isn't going to stop until WE make them stop. I refuse to believe we have become a society of passive idiots, but here we are I guess. Interesting times are ahead for all.

Too bad someone didn't record on video this TSA agent's doing this and her callous response. It could used as more ammunition by the freedom movement.

The airport should have surveillance video. Unless they cremated it to protect the guilty.

OK, people who are still flying don't usually get any sympathy from me. But I'll make an exception here. Poor guy.

This too...everyone stop flying for a day, and the airports will......<sigh> nevermind. The airports would then just ask the government for a bailout, therefore still sticking it in our asses without ever having to go there.

Judge Napolitano has said the camera is the new weapon. The more abuses of govt cops, politicians, and regulators that can be caught on film the more people I feel we will attracted to our side; especially since the media isn't doing their job anymore.

Wrong. I give you "COPS", "America's Most Wanted","The First 48", "Real Women Sherriffs of Brevard County(or whatever the fuck it's called)"....need I say more?

The camera has been used AGAINST us for far too long...I've observed people watching those shows, and they seriously get off on watching a cop fuck someone up, with no mention of the rights violations in their face. Which is why these shows continue, because this behavior from cops is expected now.

The camera has done little, if anything, to put an end to the abuse, and, as I mentioned above, has in fact been used to condition us.

Then why would Napolitano say that then?

It's not part of their job description.

I admire the Judge, but that does not mean that he has it 100% right on everything.

That's something you'd have to ask him, I only speak for myself.

ETA: I'm not denying the camera can be a tool, or just to not bother by any stretch. Just saying it's going to take people standing up, too.

I think the Judge meant they were weapons we can use now more so than at any other point in history. When I lived in Florida, COPS was filming in Tampa, and they accidentally busted down the wrong door during a drug raid. They said they would never show that on TV because it would portray the police in a bad light. Which, one could assume, would mean the end of their ride-along invitations, too.

When we have the camera, they don't get to pick what gets shown and what doesn't get shown.

I agree with you 100% here. And a LOT of people standing up which I'm not seeing much of.

The comments warm my heart. I thought this one was good:

Even in death and cremated, people still get abused by TSA!

Right, I get what the judge was saying. But look how much has been shown over the last two decades, at least......and cue the crickets. What's changed? More videos of the abuse? And that has done...what?

People would much rather sit on their couch with a bag of Cheetos and a Diet Coke, and watch "the good guys" fuck up all the "bad guys". Most people aren't even aware of their rights as a direct result of these shows. I've actually heard people tell me after they relayed a story of being pulled over and searched, that they did what they did(consent) because "that's how they do it on COPS".

Well he's not getting any from me.
Human beings have lived far away from their loved ones for centuries. It has not always been possible to travel for funerals and weddings and baptisms and birthday parties like we do now. It's a luxury that people during my lifetime have not been able to partake in.
Insured postage with UPS would have moved his ashes more safely, faster, and cheaper.
He had options and chose to fly.

You all guys seem to have forgotten that the TSA is also harassing the Obama supporters too. Something has to wake them up. No pain no gain. I think of the TSA as the price I have to pay to bring Obama's poll numbers down or keep them from rising. Same as $4 gallon gas. No need to make a big deal out of the TSA.

Thanks to all the "Reality" TV shows desensitizing the people, and they thirst for blood. History does repeat itself, soon we will see Blood sports on TV and it will be the top rated show! ~SMH~

Propaganda is a weapon. The best really because it gets people to agree with you. lets make some liberty propaganda!

Depends on who is shooting the footage. We have lots of patriots out there shooting police brutality and immediately uploading them to the internet. That's why many cops freak out when you video tape them!

Have you seen this Army Ranger who is going to go to jail for 10 years simply because he video taped two officers brutally handling a woman for an alleged DUI?
