Unfortunately, it's blocked here at work...could someone summarize or repost?

This author has written a lot about the Paul campaign, he should be rewarded.

It is about them requiring lower cost hotel options etc in Minnesota, and more substantive breakfast speakers, Austrian economists etc, not just political hacks. It is portrayed as the tip of the iceberg.

I would copy and paste for you but I do want people to click the link.

So, honor system, folks. Click the link anyhow:

While establishment Republicans aren’t quite sure what to expect from the contingent of Ron Paul delegates at the national convention in Tampa, they’re beginning to get a taste.

In the Minnesota delegation at least, where a majority are delegates for the Texas congressman, there’s much rumbling about the high cost of convention hotels. And there’s a desire for less big-name speakers at delegation events and more authorities on issues such as economics and the debt.

From a Minnesota Public Radio report:

[Republican National Committeewoman for Minnesota Pat] Anderson has been to three Republican National Conventions and says she has never seen such demand for alternate accommodations. She thinks there's more than just saving money behind the new batch of delegates' desire to chart their own course.

"There's a little bit of independence, more independence in this group where, you know, they aren't going to do exactly as they're told, you know by the original layout," Anderson said. "And they want some options."

If more reasonably priced hotels and more substantive breakfast speakers were all the Paul delegates wanted, the Romney campaign could breathe a sigh of relief. But judging from how various recent state GOP conventions have gone down, this is just the tip of a very big iceberg.

Where's the line on the GOP picking up the tab on this stuff? I understand wanting to save money if accomadations were out of pocket, but it would make an even bigger impression and responsible message if they were trying to save taxpaywer money. Really, either-or is admirable.

If the Senate has it's way, taxpayer money won't go to the "nominating coronations" as this article puts it.

EDIT: Although that only will affect future conventions.

Ron brought that bill in the House. He announced he was going to at the Texas State GOP convention.

When did making fiscally conservative requests become "demands"? The more the establishment complains, the more ridiculous and out of touch they sound. Under no circumstances should these people ever be given a rope to play with.

Looks like there may be extra rooms in the higher priced hotels, maybe they'll have to lower the rates to fill them. Hmmm.
