Ah, I have no way to verify its validity, though I can only imagine that it simply puts in plain and often caustic words the way many feel about the war. It's not such a far-fetched scenario. My sister's former husband was a Navy Seal and a very similar thing happened. Whether true or not, it's a realistic expression of frustration about an unjust war.
