couple excerpts:

Republicans, for example, are more likely to head to Dunkin' Donuts for their daily cup of Joe, while Democrats are more inclined to get their caffeine fix from Starbucks, according to a study released this week by the neuro-insight firm Buyology.

I'm guessing libertarians are more likely to make it themselves with 2000 dollar coffee making contraption.

When choosing a car, Democrats were more inclined to favor a rugged and adventurous Jeep while Republicans preferred the luxury and sophistication of BMW

I wonder if libertarians are more likely to prefer a pickup truck.

For example Allstate, which was favored by Republicans, has an advertising campaign that centers on fear, telling viewers "Mayhem is everywhere."

Not much else to say about that.

It is a similar story for fast food restaurants. Subway, where you choose every aspect of your sandwich, was the chain of choice for Republicans, a party whose platform revolves around individual freedom.

Democrats, on the other hand, favored Wendy's, which Singer said can be seen as more democratic because they offer pre-fixed solutions to your hunger. It's as if Wendy's is saying, "We've got these answers and you pick which is best for you," Singer said

Well neither of those options are paleo...

Right on about the coffee. I home-roast my own using a hot air popcorn popper that I got for fifteen bucks. It's so much fun, and tastes amazing. If more people knew how easy it is, Dunkin and Starbucks would both have to lower their prices dramatically to compete! :D

But yeah, we buy our coffee with bitcoins, grind it ourselves and brew. I hate buying overpriced crappy coffee. And after we move, Kludge is getting a crappy truckster. Pre-made salads suck though. I had to order one from McDonald's recently and the lettuce was floppy--and their dressing had 9g of carbs in it. Threw that shit out. Subway's much better, I can look at the tomatoes and see if they're crappy or not.

How about the price club for workplace coffee? At well under $0.10 per cup (including styrofoam cup $0.015, sugar, creamer, stir sticks, filters, machine, water), coffee can be a free benefit enjoyed by many:

• 79% of those polled said that access to coffee or tea makes them more productive
• 76% said that drinking a hot beverage is relaxing
• 79% said that they feel valued by their employers when they are provided with hot beverages at the workplace
• 47% said that they appreciate access to free or low-cost coffee provided by their office beverage service
• 63% said that having hot beverages served at the office allows them to grab a fresh coffee and get back to work, without having to leave the building to get that next kick of energy

...

1. Coffee improves mental performance

That’s right, we all hoped it was the truth and now you can be sure. Drinking coffee doesn’t just help you stay awake – it improves alertness and concentration while delaying mental fatigue. It has also been suggested that coffee will improve your short-term memory.

2. Improve endurance and stamina in physical exercise

We’ll take any help we can get to make getting back into a regular exercise habit a little easier. Coffee could be the boost we all need to avoid early exhaustion by helping to improve our mentality, and therefore, our ability to exercise longer and harder while getting back into an exercise routine.

3. Improves socialization

As strange as it sounds, drinking coffee really does improve your ability to socialize. The scientific reasoning for this is coffee-drinking actually reduces stress by eliminating the hormone cortisol, which is responsible for irritability and other everyday stresses. Not only that, but the atmosphere created in coffee houses is carefully manufactured to help eliminate stress and encourage socialization, too.

I have fancy coffee makers but don't use them any more.

I have a hand steep brewer, a cone shaped plastic thing that I put the coffee in, pour water into it about 50 seconds off the boil, steep for 4 minutes and then drain into a cup or a jar.

WAY better coffee than a steam brewer. And ridiculously cheaper to boot.

I also buy fresh roasted beans from a roaster, grind them myself in a side burr grinder, and brew with distilled water so....

-Something cheap, right now I drive a small Peugeot (do you even have those ??)

-Thinking about it, there actually are a number of US chain - fast food - restaurants that also do business here. We've got Subway, Mcdonalds, BK, KFC.
I really detest the quality of take away food, but sometimes I have to get a quick fix, in which case I go to either Mcd or BK. I'm not sure how quality is across the pond, I have never eaten there while I was in the US, but I've heard it's even poorer then what we've got here. Anyways... I usually make my own burgers.

Computers: Windows 7, AMD CPUs, Nvidia GPUs, Muskin Ram, Mozilla 64bit Nightly browser, Google search

Here are my choices:

Coffee: Dunkin Donuts, Hazelnut, light and sweet. Its the only coffee I like, I can't stand starbucks.
Soda: Coca-cola classic. Yep, if I'm drinking a soda, it is more than likely a coke.
Fast Food: Wendys. I just like there burgers a lot more than mcD's or the BK.
Cars: Subaru, I cant afford an Audi, and I wouldn't be caught dead in a BMW or a JEEP.
Insurance: Since it mandated...who ever can give me the best coverage for the least money.
Computers: Windows 7, AMD CPUs, Nvidia GPUs, Muskin Ram, Mozilla 64bit Nightly browser, Google search
TV: History channel, H2HD, Science Channel
Sports: None, these the new roman cirrus far as I'm concerned. Same with all celeb stuff, I don't fallow any of it.
Gaming: PC gamer. Consoles are for children.
TVs: Samsung LCDs
Audio: Klipsch

Subway sucks. There is no meat on their sandwiches. Why anyone would go there is beyond me.
If you want a sandwich, make a damn sandwich, its cheap and easy, really! I dunno what half of that is
