I was reading the affidavit that lead to the warrant on the raid on Liberty Dollars and I noticed something. The first evidence they claimed was that the likeness of the $20 liberty dollar was similar to that of a US Mint coin and therefore was subject to counterfeiting laws.

See the warrant with attached affidavit here: http://www.johnlocke.org/site-docs/meckdeck/pdfs/USAVLibdoll.pdf

In addition to Lady Liberty being a side profile instead of a front profile, the differences include the denomination of the coin ($20 and $100), the back of the coin is a torch instead of an eagle (they claim "in the likeness Roosevelt of the dime", though it's likeness is about the same as my likeness to George Bush), not to mention that there's a great deal of difference in the text on the coins.

But the biggest killer is this:
The date on the Liberty Dollar is 2006 and the date on the US Mint coin is 2007.

That's pretty much the entire basis for the confiscation, I believe. The other citations in the affidavit provide fine or imprisonment, not confiscation of personal property.

This is total BS guys.
