A majority of Americans 54% say same-sex marriages should be legally recognized, while 42% are opposed, according to a CNN/ORC International Survey released Wednesday.

The survey gets interesting once you break it down. Oddly enough, the survey questions start at number 22? hmmm.

The sample also includes 895 interviews among registered voters (plus or minus 3.5 percentage points). The sample includes 756 interviews among landline respondents and 253 interviews among cell phone respondents.

24. Do you happen to have a family member or close friend who is gay or lesbian? 60% said Yes whereas in all previous surveys that asked this question did not exceed 50%

This is not a post to advocate an opinion on same-sex marriage, but to give an example of how to manipulate a survey.
