Hey all, we need to be on the lookout for a solid liberty candidate to unite behind to defeat Rick Perry in 2014 (assuming he runs again).

This is the time we need to be keeping an eye out for an up-and-comer. Any (realistic) suggestions?

I said realistic.

RP has negative favorability ratings in TX, and will be considered far too old then. Unfortunately.

Texas governor has no power. Lt. Governor does all the actual stuff that matters.

Texas governor is like the president of the universe (or whatever it is called) in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. No power, all show.

Can they veto laws?

I would be thrilled if Ron Paul ran for governor.

He'd be phenomenally well funded, it would keep him on the liberty campaign stump, it would accelerate the installation of liberty candidates into the TX state GOP, and a fresh set of RP youtubes would, indeed, help maintain momentum for liberty candidates nation-wide.

Ron Paul.

As President AND Governor of Texas? I love it :)

Debra Medina? She did well in 2010 against an incumbent governor and a U.S. Senator while having very little money.

I think she is "damaged goods" now, unfortunately.

No, I saw him speak to a YAL group at UNT. We were asking him to run for the Kay Bailey seat. He also said no to the possibility of running for the House. Not happening.

I hope Debra gives it another go. She would make a good Governor.

Whoever it is they will need at lest 14 million dollars. That is, if your not the "Establishment" guy.
