However, too many still want abortion to be legal.

I think that the actual number is probably even lower. I really am not an anti-gay marriage zealot, but the media chatters about it incessantly. Watching a PBS show a week or two ago, and they pointed out that it was one of those issues where the votes consistently under perform the polling. People say one thing because they want to appear to be politically correct, but when faced with nothing but their own morals in the privacy of the voting booth, they vote another.

And that was a liberal show, too.

I suspect that abortion is another one of those issues. You're "not allowed" to be pro-life without being subjected to scorn, harassment and ostracism especially when you're young. It's easier to smile and nod. Couple that with the fact that as people get older, they tend to become more spiritual, and it isn't hard to see the shift. Although the media won't ever report it.
