View Full Version : Massie's general election will be far tougher than the primary?

At least according to Massie. I have heard the exact opposite here. Who is wrong, who is right, and why do people seem to be so confused about this?

Edit: Apparently a moderator thinks this is false, but Massie disagrees. Who do you think knows the race better, the moderator or Massie?

As of May 2, Massie's opponent, Bill Adkins, had $4,046 cash on hand and debt of $5,500. He will not be getting any money from the Democratic party.

Massie had $136,500 cash on hand and a personal loan of $80,000.

Besides the financial advantage, the Cook Political Report has the district at R+14, which is one of the safest Republican seats in the country.

Hmm okay I guess I'm just confused by the email Massie just sent.

Always fight like you're ten points behind.

He doesn't want to act like he's already won the seat, which is a good idea since anything can happen in 5 months.

Correct.

Realistically, Thomas will win unless he does something like eat a live puppy during a press conference. But that doesn't mean it's smart to send out emails saying, "Oh, yeah, I got this!"

From what people on here are saying, I take it that money would be better donated now to other liberty candidates?

Expect another Massiecre in the general. Someone who calls the Tea Party a "terrorist group" has no chance in tge 4th district. But I am interested to see what the line of attack will be against Thomas. Is he not "strong on defense" or is he too soft on drugs or something? Who knows what he will come up with.

How about Kurt Bills: http://kurtbills.com/

Not only is he a Liberty Canadate supported by Paul, he would be taking out a dispicable democrat/socialist in Amy Klobuchar.

I was puzzled about that too, but I just took it to mean he was being humble. This was an important victory no doubt, not just for Massie, but a lot of eyes were also on Rand to see what effect his endorsement would have, and how much influence he really has.

It is time to shift focus, we have already over invested in Massie at the expense of other viable candidates. One house seat is good, but should not be sufficient for the R3volution. Karen Kwiatkowski has a primary on June 12th, if we all start phoning from home for her, and she gets enough money to run her tv ads, she may be able to pull it off. Then we need to shift to Kurt Bills general election.

Justin Amash has been cut off from PAC money because he voted against the NDAA. He could use the cash.

I was going to ask about this. I plan on donating to him, Karen K, Kurt Bills, and Chris Hightower. I will throw some Massie's way as well though he doesn't need it as much.

Amash isn't in any real trouble, is he?

Karen K doesn't seem to be in a winnable race.

Steve Stockman in TX-36 is probably our neediest candidate who has an incredible chance at success.

It's all about Chris Hightower.

At least in Kentucky. We need to take this state over big time!

Massie's website doesn't have anything about foreign policy...is he a true Ron Paul Republican?

He's on record as supporting expansion of all wars.

Yes, he is. But he is running like Rand and that is fine with me because that is how you win in the 4th District.

I like how I used a nearly direct quote from Massie as the subject of this thread and a moderator edited it to say false. Really?

Today, we enter a new phase of this battle. The primary was rough for all of the candidates, but the general election is going to be far tougher....

...

It's kind of like when Ron brings up delegates. You have to keep donations coming in.

I figured that was it. I don't like it, but I guess it is what it is. Thanks for clarifying.

Who cares, brandon? Everyone knew and knows the general will be easy compared to the primary. No one thinks the dem will win, so he won't be well funded and won't have a good campaign. He's not even a candidate of any significance because the significant dems knew there was no chance. Maybe a scandal could make a dem win.... but one hasn't won the district in half a century. The district also got even more Republican after redistricting. That obviously doesn't mean TM shouldn't do anything before November.

Who cares, brandon? Well as a donor and a follower of the race, I care. Isn't this a forum to discuss his candidacy? I honestly couldn't think of anything more relevant to discuss in this forum than the difficulty of the race and his assessment of it. If that's off topic, might as well close the forum.
