First post, hope someone finds it informative.

5:15-5:16. Bill Clinton, spending restraints force balanced budget and federal deficit becomes surplus. That boils my blood.
For someone composing an 8 minute video on U.S. debt, going to the effort of spanning 80 years, you think they would have heard of the Clinton surplus myth. Apparently not.
There was no Clinton surplus. Google it for yourself, "Clinton Budget Surplus Myth", first result. Or, you could get the numbers directly from the U.S treasury website.
The last time U.S. debt actually went down was in 1957. Eisenhower. 55 years ago. Arguing the U.S. became sovereign in 1776, we've ran a perpetual deficit for 23% the time of our sovereignty now. If by a snowballs chance in hell the Paul Ryan budget passes, we might just have a balanced budget by 2040. 83 years of consecutive budget deficits. That disgusts me, and I hear people arguing that's the best we can do; and that Ryan is radical. I suppose it doesn't matter; his budget sucks anyways.

People need to do their own research on the U.S. debt. This video hardly sheds any light on the U.S. fiscal disaster. Two years ago, I used to tell people how we needed to do something, the U.S. debt was 14 trillion. Under a year ago, it hit 15 trillion, and I've since been using that amount. Just recently I checked again, and it's now 15.7 trillion according to the Brillig debt clock. Guess I have to start referring to the debt as 16 trillion now. Wonder if anyone will even notice.

One more fun-fact before I leave: assuming a bill (of any denomination) weighs one gram (and it does), the weight of the 15.7 trillion U.S. debt is 173,000 TONS, in benjamins (a million weighs approximately 22 pounds in benjamins, or 2200 pounds in washingtons if you so choose). That's about half the weight of the empire state building: 370,000 tons.

What does all of this mean? I don't know. It probably means we should stop spending all this god damn money.
My long story short: I'm convinced it's over if Ron Paul isn't elected NOW. 2012. Anything else is far too late. FAR too late. But, in the words of Ron Paul, "Of course, it could all be a bad dream. A nightmare. And that I'm seriously mistaken. Over-reacting, and that my worries are unfounded. I hope so." God. I hope so.
