APN Applauds House Committee for Clarifying that Bill doesn't not Authorize Use of Force against Iran; Urges Passage of "Iran Special Envoy" Amendment

Washington, DC - Last night the House began consideration of HR FY13 National Defense Authorization Act.

Americans for Peace Now (APN) has serious concerns that Part C of the bill could be interpreted as an authorization of use of force against Iran. APN strongly supports the amendment offered by Representatives John Conyers (D-MI), Keith Ellison (D-MN), Walter Jones (R-NC) and Ron Paul (R-TX), to "clarify that nothing in the bill shall be construed as authorizing the use of force against Iran."

We understand that House Armed Services Chairman Howard McKeon (R-CA) and Ranking Member Adam Smith (D-WA) have agreed to include this amendment as part of a group of amendments to be adopted "en bloc" this evening.

These guys are the only ones that have our backs. Romney's trying to create new state GOP infrastructures and Paul's off being the Champion of the Constitution.

I'm interested, but not quite smart enough to understand it. :(

Ron is cosponsors on an amendment to specify that sanctions do not authorize use of force against Iran. As part of the negotiations apparently DOD has agreed to not fight that going to vote so it will be in a block of amendments going for vote (and expected to pass). What they parcel WITH it is yet to be seen.

Ron needs to kick butt on this. Shawn Hannity and His Glorious Vampireness Joe Liberman were on the radio just today, saying that the "time is up" for Iran, and "The clock was ticking but has now ticked out."

The establishment smells blood in the water for Iran. Obama wants to hit them to stay in office. Romney wants to hit them after he gets in.

Either Iran or Syria is screwed before Xmas, and thus, we all are.
