I travelled by train to Berlin through East Germany once. Everybody boards the train and tickets get checked. The train travels to the East/ West German border and all the crew gets off except for the conductor who takes it across the border where he gets off and an entire East German crew takes over. Tickets and passports are again checked. No stops until you reach the Berlin border in East Germany where the process repeats. On another trip in West Germany everybody got off the train (in Munich I think it was or possibly Frankfurt) and armed officers with dogs swept the train- not sure what they were looking for. I was transfering to another one anyways.

Another experience. While in Berlin, they (the East Germans since it was their wall) were working on a section of the wall (mostly fence in this location). For each person working, there was a person standing behind them with a loaded weapon. On the Western side there were also people waiting and watching- both sides in case somebody decided to make a run for it.

This is what comes to my mind when I think of East Germany. That and how grey and desolate everything looked. In East Berlin I saw a line outside a grocery store. Rumour was that they had gotten some bananas in.

Did you get a chance to drive a Trabant?

I have thing for really shitty cars, I'd love to get my hands on one.

I had just finished school and spent nearly a year in Europe (six months were a work visa in London)- travelling either by train or bicycle so didn't drive anything (but did see Trabants!). Haven't been back since the Berlin Wall came down (own a crumb of it).

I miss the DHS Ministerium für Nationale Verteidigung and all the other WARSAW PACT countries national/state security agencies broadcasting their "See It, Report It" commercials, especially the ones on TV/radio of "Turn in your colleagues, neighbors, and even family members" receive prizes, state hero medals and awards. The Stasi, the Czech StB, Pols NSZ, were notorious for; control, oppression, and terror.

Today you can travel to parts of Poland that used to belonged to Germany and see examples of 60 years of communism/socialist government control indoctrination... they are still, a snapshot of 1950, not because of nostalgia, but poverty/government intravention making them poor. like Landsberg /Warthe(NOW Gorzów) or Gunberg(Greenberg) now Zielona Góra... many other cities in the former Pomeranian and Silesia regions.

Man how American has done a 180 degree turn to what we fought/spent against for decades in the Soviet/WARSAW PACT aka East Bloc. Might as well rename U.S. like eastern Europe did: AMERIKA

I live and work in the heart of Chicago and Police presence has doubled every day since Tuesday and by tomorrow it will be a full on police state (we already had snipers on rooftops today in the loop).

This Nato thing is going to blow up...

Meanwhile here in "East" Germany, it's relatively laid back. I hardly see the police. Kind of funny isn't it?

You can also relax when driving a car. They don't sit in their cruisers everywhere waiting to catch you.

I smell a false flag. Don't ask me how it will happen. But I really don't like all this preparation they're doing.
