Saw this on a different forum and was intriqued by it. ( I like the part about the delegates carring Bryan on their shoulders after he delivered the speech which catapulted him to the nomination? ) Don't compare the content of the speeches per se, but surely the reaction that came from such a speech.

What say you?

The "Cross of Gold" speech was delivered by William Jennings Bryan, a former congressman from Nebraska, at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on July 9, 1896. In the address, Bryan supported bimetallism or "free silver", which he believed would bring the nation prosperity. He decried the gold standard, concluding the speech, "you shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold".[1] Bryan's address helped catapult him to the Democratic Party's presidential nomination; it is considered one of the greatest political speeches in American history.

Bryan’s “Cross of Gold” Speech: Mesmerizing the Masses
The most famous speech in American political history was delivered by William Jennings Bryan on July 9, 1896, at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The issue was whether to endorse the free coinage of silver at a ratio of silver to gold of 16 to 1.

Again I'm not saying to compare the message but the messager. Is it really possible to have a majority of actual delegates? If so I predict a Dr Paul speach, perhaps the greatest in his life would and perhaps I'm a little wishful thinking that it's not all totally rotten and corrupt, would have the power to overcome that and change the world.

Blowing the so called "previous" greatest speech in American history away:)

Washingtons farewell address will always be my favorite. It is also basically Ron Pauls ideology
