My friend is trying to hook up with the Ron Paul crowd in his area. Can someone point us in the right direction?

There is a Chicago meetup that meets every week. Not sure of the contact info, but your friend and go on meetup.com and search 'Ron Paul, Chicago' and find it pretty easily.

there seem to be some event related emails there he could start with, asking the organizers where to go.

I found that, and post in the Illinois subforum in case people there have email alerts for the subforum

I posted this in your other thread, but I'll copy it hear for visibility:

Hey!The delegates for Illinois were directly elected during the primary, so I do not believe there is any way to become an Illinois delegate at this point. However, there is a broader goal of reclaiming the Chicago/Cook County GOP, so there are local positions to be fought for. The GOP in Chicago is VERY weak. People around here think of the democratic primary as the "real election" for local offices. Regardless, hopefully we can change that over time once we refashion the GOP to become a more relevant party.
Your friend should hook up with the Chicago Ron Paul Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/ChicagoForRonPaul2012
There are about a 1000 people around there and hopefully your friend finds a good niche!

Rob

thanks for posting this for me to help me get connected. my account was just activated so I can post on here. I have read some of the forums and replys but never activated a memebrship until today.

So I voted for my 3 RP delegates and the alternate delegates in the primary, and a few days ago I emailed my GOP people to inquire about becoming a delegate and they have been giving me the runaround. I am new to the whole process and have only voted in primary and general elections before. I voted for RP in the TX primary in 2007 back when I lived in San Antonio. This campaign I have donated to a few money bombs and bought a couple of T-Shirts and wear them around when I have a chance. I was even stopped by a TSA agent at the airport who is a RP supporter. I signed up for the Aurora meetup group because it is the closest to me. Today I signed up for the Chicago meetup group since there are more members. I just want to help any way that I can - even if I can't be a delegate. However, the local GOP people told me that they have open slots for the Winfield Township.

Anyone who is a delegate already and knows more about the process - please post some comments

Thanks

Matt

Just to let you know, there is also an Illinois subforum here: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/forumdisplay.php?152-Illinois

I am about to duplicate your post there, which will auto alert anyone who has subscribed to be emailed when that forum is updated.

and welcome to the forums!

I would say follow up with the open slots, immediately and see if it leads to anything, but I'm not in Illinois. There are a lot who are, though, and I am sure they will get back to you.
