I know you guys did this in Missouri in 2008. I'm in Arizona and we are currently an early primary state so we lose half our delegation. I'm looking for the wording you guys proposed and when you did it. Any help would be great. Our state convention is this weekend and I think it would go over well when we are getting set to vote on the two different slates - one will be if the 1/2 delegation penalty is enforced and the other will be if the penalty is not enforced.

Thanks

I think the first step is getting the Arizona Republican Party on board with a caucus then getting legislators to cancel the state funded primary.

then getting legislators to cancel the state funded primary.

Just call it socialism or Marxist democracy or something. Big scary words.

I'm considering a motion at the convention this Saturday proposing a non-binding caucus format in 2016. I'm sure that is what happened in Missouri in 2008 but they may have changed it in 2010, I'm not sure. They still had a primary but it wasn't binding.

What happened in Missouri was that state legislators failed to move the date of the primary to be in compliant with RNC rules. That forced the Missouri Republican Party to go with a caucus system. That wasn't their first choice.

Seeing as how Paul dominated the caucus states, the Establishment will try to move more caucuses to primaries now, than the other way around. Expect LOT of opposition to your idea.

Good idea - it would be great if an organization could exist which aims to convert primary states into caucuses.

It will have to be each individual state party apparatus which finally makes the decision, but a 501(c)(4) non-profit lobbying organization like 'Campaign for Liberty' to push this would be a great idea. Expect a lot of pushbacks - Dems hate caucuses and loves popular vote, sheeple in general like primaries because it's effortless, Establishment hates caucuses because of the chances of ME/NV style takeovers.

For the Paul faction to make the push, the problem is that the states where we have a strong party influence are already caucus states (that's how we took over those parties) and we have little to no influence in primary states.

It would be great if more states become caucus states by 2016, but I fear the other way is how it'll trend.

I think we should target all of the early primary states that are having half their delegations removed due to the RNC rule and try to switch them to caucus states. Arizona, Florida, Michigan and South Carolina.

Agreed, phrase in a cost cutting manner which will resonate with the average republican. The leadership is an uphill battle so we just need to 86 em. Our primary here in mich costed around 10$mill, complete waste unless the establishment candidate is footing the bill.
