Pirate Party to become Germany's third biggest political party at 13%?

This month they face their biggest challenge, with elections in two more states, including North Rhine-Westphalia, the country’s most populous. Should the results match recent poll numbers — as high as 13 percent, making the Pirates Germany’s third-most-popular party — they will serve notice that a new electoral force has arrived and offer a compelling political lesson for parties on both sides of the Atlantic.

This is good, at least the Europeans are doing something right, politically! :)

I like the Pirate Party in the UK. A recent judge ruling made ISPs block The Pirate Bay here, and the Pirate Party is mirroring TPB for us here: http://tpb.pirateparty.org.uk/

I'm a supporter of Canada's pirate party.

But I wish they would branch to general liberty issues and not just the internet.

It would probably be easier to have the Libertarian Party adopt a pirate party platform kind of.

It could be a joke. In one of the Scandinavian countries, they have a party called Beer Lovers Party of [country name], or something like that. They sometimes do that in Europe.

They're not the biggest party. CDU/CDU (Christian democrats) are, followed by the SDP (social democrats) and then probably Die.Linke ("The Left"), then the FDP (Free Democrats) and the Greens. I'd even say the NPD (far-right) are bigger. Pirate Party did well in the Berlin regional elections, but as a protest vote.

I doubt it. There are some other countries where the Pirate Party is doing quite well.

Can someone post a Ron Paul/Jolly Roger graphic? Sort of like the Raiders helmet logo, but with the unmistakeable Ron Paul visage?
