These are repurchase agreements, so the money must be paid back (with interest) to the federal reserve. I don't think this is really inflationary, it just buys more time before the coming market correction. (I think this is the case - I am not an expert.)

I think you may have hit it. If any MMF breaks the buck the market will collapse quickly. This way they can try to spread it out.
