We feel faint

Somebody must be putting something in the water down at the Anchorage Assembly. It voted Tuesday night to return more than $6 million to property taxpayers in the city.

More amazing, the 9-2 vote to return the money to taxpayers came after harrumphs from Mayor Dan Sullivan, who wanted to spend it on city services, including about $2 million for soaring snow-removal costs for this past record-breaking year, and fuel costs. The revenue-sharing money came unexpectedly from the state because of high oil tax revenue from skyrocketing oil prices, KTUU reported.

Only Assembly members Jennifer Johnston and Patrick Flynn voted against the move, originally proposed by Assemblyman Bill Starr.

The Assembly’s move probably will mean little to the tax bill of the average taxpayer, but it is a step in the right direction - reduced taxes and shrinking government.

Finally.

Kinda feels like ?home?
