Ardent Sentry 2012: U.S. and Canada Conduct Major Military Exercise

On April 24, NORHTCOM announced Ardent Sentry 2012, billed as a “major exercise… focused on Defense Support of Civil Authorities.” It will be held on May 2 – 9, 2012, according to the U.S. Northern Command website.

Ardent Sentry will consist of command post and field training exercises that will be held in North Dakota, Oregon, Texas, Alaska, Connecticut and Nova Scotia. The exercises will include both United States and Canadian military units.
Ardent Sentry 2012 “will validate existing plans, policies, and procedures, including the Federal Inter-agency Response Plan, as well as state and regional plans,” according to NORTHCOM.
NORTHCOM describes the exercises as follows:
In North Dakota, the Air Force Global Strike Command will respond to a simulated Nuclear Weapons Incident on Minot Air Force Base.
The Oregon National Guard will work with state and local officials in response to weather-related and security events while in Texas the U.S. Army North will deploy a task force to work through the process of leading a military response to a major hurricane.
Joint Task Force-Alaska will conduct a coordinated response to a major aircraft crash in a remote area.
In Nova Scotia, Canada, U.S. and Canadian forces will cooperate jointly on a security related event.
In 2008, Infowars.com reported on a meeting between U.S. Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, and Canadian Air Force Lt.-Gen. Marc Dumais, commander of Canada Command, at the U.S. Army North headquarters, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
The two military leaders signed “a Civil Assistance Plan that allows the military from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a civil emergency,” according to the USNORTHCOM website.
Billed as a “bilateral military plan” in response to requests for military support of civil authorities, the plan represented a merging of national military infrastructures under the aegis of the North American Union.
The previous year, USNORTHCOM General Victor E. Renaurt made public the Vision 2020 document (pdf) outlining strategic goals for both NORAD and USNORTHCOM leading up to the year 2020. The document outlined efforts to strengthen relations with Canada Command and developed a closer working relationship with Mexican armed forces.
As is usually the case with internationalist military developments, the plan was virtually ignored by the establishment media, although it was covered briefly by the media in Canada.
Ardent Sentry exercises are designed to further erode Posse Comitatus in the United States under the guise of “emergency preparedness” and establish a functional military infrastructure between the U.S. and Canada that may be used in the event of a declaration of martial law.
