I've started threads on The Wire before and I'm currently rewatching the show with my girlfriend (she hadn't seen it before which was almost cause for a breakup :D. Nearing the end of season three and had to post this speech.

To give you a background the guy speaking attempted to legalize drugs in his district and here he is explaining to a young police officer why he did it.

For my money best show ever made. And if you haven't watched it you should.

known as hampsterdam...gotta luv being caught via contrapment.

i didnt like some parts of the show, like creating murders out of thin air to up police budgets, but yes, the drug legalizing part i think was an ok-attempt at an argument for drug decriminalization.

Baltimore....what a shithole. Some of the best dive bars ever though...

While the skit was good, most Americans already know the drug war is bullshit and favor legalization. To bad "most" of them won't actually do anything to change it.

I think that's showing the corruption of the police departments in these cities.

What I like about this show is it shows all sides. Neither criminal, police officer, government official etc... is all good or all bad. It did to me highlight the stupidity of many of the laws and enforcement in this country.

I wouldn't put it on the same level as The Sopranos, but still a damn good show. Loved season 2.
