I just got a bulletin, about the phrase "16th" being deleted by Myspace in bulletins.

~~~
myspace is blocking December "16th" abbreviation
news corp is trying to manipulate the money bomb in bulletins; not comments; either way this is messed up
~~~~

It's new to me as of now, but, just a 411 to remember when spreading the word.

I need to investigate further, but, I tried a quick test, and 16th showed in the subject line,
but was replaced by " ..h " in the message..

the source code only shows '' ..h " as well..

It seems that myspace was, or is, trying to block the date Dec 16th in messages

The test:

~~~~
Listing various methods of displaying D_E_C_1_6_t_h :
//Dec 16th ~ this 16th of Dec ~ December 16th ~ 16th of December
Make it a graphic, host it somewhere, and put the graphic in the message?
I urge everyone to tell all their myspace friends about the Dec. 16th Tea Party!
This is bad but remember not to turn it into a conspiracy or anything. When a person receives a message on myspace they can mark it 'spam' if enough people do that Myspace's system will find the common words that are getting marked spam, be it "Enlarge your penis" or "december 16th"
It's not a conspiracy, but it is good that it's been brought up. If you're going to message people on myspace about this, use a less obvious headline like 'Hey'
Someone try with other dates? try the 14th, 24th stuff like that. its possible its a coding error to do with a number followed by "th" if its only happening for the 16th then we know something is fishy.
using an image is also a good idea, if it's permitted
You could put an image in your message, and then just some text stating, "I firmly believe in this group."
myspace has been doing this for a while. curse words and other certain "objectionable" phrases get the "..." treatment. I tried over and over again to post my AIM name on my profile, and i finally had to type out "A O L I N S T A N T M E S S E N G E R" or something like that because all the other combinations were dotted out.
so either its an error, or intentional. and judging from the words and subjects that get the dot treatment... i'd say it's intentional.
I think it's much more likely people marked it as SPAM and got flagged.
It's new today.. I posted about it a lot yesterday.. this is new..
I'll try a different date.. but... this isn't the first time something like this has happened..
and.. I'm sure Murdock wasn't too happy
about us using Myspace to raise 4.3 Million in one day for Dr Paul
I don't think so.. it shows in the "subject line"
just not in the message..
Does "Sixteenth of December" get censored?
Mark
.
Sorry all, I thought it was clear, the ONLY thing so far being censored is
the abbreviation of December, i.e. "Dec" when next to "16th"
Bulletins were down, then back up, then "Dec" was censored.
("Dec 16th" works, so far, in the subject line, just not in the message)
The point was to announce the censorship and to be aware that
you'll need to do something other than use the abbreviation/phrase "Dec 16th".
A banner works, the whole word December works (see the test below) ect
