Create a "new" federal law enforcement agency and then use it to enforce whatever statute is at hand?

This shit has to stop!........Clothes for Pete's sake..........I suppose the Chinese sweat shops will be the next "security" issue?

Lmao. Is there any type of L.E. situation you would not defend? I don't view it as "administrative restructuring." I view it as they're taking small steps towards to introducing this breed of swine onto American streets. The sickness I get from the article is compounded when the majority of Americans are as complacent as you are. Though I have to admit, I don't believe your posts come from ignorance as the majority of Americans but rather your "need" to add hundreds of comments to a thread. And by the way, you have a uncanning ability to speak their swine lingo. Next time I need a translation I'll be sure to ask.

Anyone who's been paying attention, knows that this administration enacted a major restructuring of many departments, and to state such is not to defend, just to voice what has happened.

Heck,
Look at what HHS is now in charge of !!!

And thanks for the insult LOL

What was the retail value on the items seized at the end of this 2 & 1/2 year investigation? Was it anywhere close to the cost of the 1-day raid by the feds?

Could they have saved money by sending in shoppers to buy all the products that they would have seized, and then make arrests?

That statement is it in a nutshell.

How many patents did the industry and government steal from average citizens?

So, are we supposed to obey orders from Homeland Security agents now too? I think everyone understands local police officers and the FBI have authority, but outside of an airport, I thought DHS didn't have any powers. If one of them showed up at my business, I'd tell them to leave and come back with a real police officer. After I've been beaten senseless, I'm sure I wouldn't have much of a choice. But still, how do I even identify a legitimate DHS agent? Is it even illegal to impersonate one?

Damn, you beat me to it! ;)

"HSI special agents, with assistance from our law enforcement and industry partners, are seizing what is believed to be counterfeit, pirated and unlicensed merchandise that was being sold at the flea market," Navas said.

What more would you expect from a corporatist government? They are out doing the bidding of corporations. Homeland Security? What a joke.

Homeland Security: More than $4 million in counterfeit athletic clothing seized at south Sacramento warehouse
http://www.sacbee.com/2012/04/19/4425261/more-than-4-million-in-counterfeit.html#mi_rss=Our%20Region

Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations spent Wednesday inventorying an estimated $4 million worth of counterfeit athletic apparel found in a south Sacramento warehouse.
Federal officials described it as one of the largest single seizures of counterfeit apparel made in the Sacramento area.

Dan Lane, assistant special agent in charge with Homeland Security Investigations in Sacramento, said agents executed a search warrant at the building on Berry Avenue, off Power Inn Road, about 11 a.m. Tuesday as part of a long-term investigation. Inside, they found rows of shelving 40 feet high and more than 400 feet long stacked with apparel. The merchandise was packed in boxes or individually wrapped in plastic.

Although agents do not have a final count on the items, Lane said it will run into the tens of thousands.

The bulk of the clothing was athletic apparel bearing a counterfeit Adidas trademark, including sports jerseys, shorts and shoes. In addition to apparel, agents discovered an array of counterfeit sports memorabilia, (http://topics.sacbee.com/sports+memorabilia/) such as commemorative clocks and soccer balls. (http://topics.sacbee.com/soccer+balls/)

Lane said the investigation began when Homeland Security Investigations was contacted by a firm that represents companies like Adidas in efforts to deal with counterfeiting.

"We tried to handle it with cease and desist orders," Lane said, but when the activity continued, it was pursued as a criminal investigation.
The counterfeit merchandise came from Southeast Asia and much of it likely was destined for local flea markets, (http://topics.sacbee.com/flea+markets/) but Lane said investigators believe it also was being shipped to retail outlets across the country. It is unclear, he said, whether retailers were aware the merchandise was counterfeit.
Lane said an investigative consultant who works with Adidas on issues involving intellectual property violations estimated that if the seized merchandise had been genuine, it would have retailed for more than $4 million.

Search warrants (http://topics.sacbee.com/Search+warrants/) also were served Tuesday at the homes of people involved in the operation, Lane said, but no arrests have been made.
He said agents will submit the results of the investigation to the U.S. attorney's office, which will decide whether to pursue prosecution.

I can easily conclude that this the US version of the Gestapo.

DHS Checkpoints Now at NFL Stadiums. Joe Six-pack is Now a Suspected Terrorist. (http://kccheckpoint.com/2011/09/16/dhs-checkpoints-now-at-nfl-stadiums-joe-six-pack-is-now-a-suspected-terrorist/)

Added: I am not inclined to spend my precious day(s) off at a game all day, but this makes it a near certainty that I would not or will generally avoid. Somebody high up in the NFL thinks this is a good idea. IIRC, the stadium owners get liability protection from any terrorist attack if they let DHS run these checkpoints.
