Not surprised.

Barr is one of those Republicans who saw "the light" years ago.

From Wiki:

Robert L. (Bob) Barr, Jr. (born November 5, 1948) is an attorney and a former member of the United States House of Representatives from Georgia. Barr represented the 7th District of Georgia, from 1995 to 2003. Barr is now a life member of the United States Libertarian Party serving on the National Committee.

Prior to Barr's work in the United States Congress, President Ronald Reagan appointed him to serve as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. He served from 1986 until 1990. He sat on the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association from 2001 to 2007.[1] Barr achieved significant notoriety as one of the leaders of the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.

...and he quit the Republican party and joined the Libertarian party about a year ago. To my knowledge he's the most prominent Republican to do so.

He hasn't been right on every issue, but he isn't a sellout and he has always struck me as someone trying to do the right thing (unlike most in DC).

Supports isn't the same thing as endorse. I sure hope he officially endorses Paul, even though I have a real bad taste in my mouth about Barr because of his rabid anti-drug stances years ago.

I couldn't stand Barr for years because he was one of those conservatives that wanted to control everyone's lives but when he lost an election he began to see that the modern conservative movement wasn't about liberty. It has taken a long time to learn to like him but it is getting easier.

Yeah, when he first declared he was joining the LP alot of libertarians were sceptical because of what a die-hard drug warrior he had been as a Republican. However, he has apparently seen the light, according to MPP he has been a vocal supporter of ending medical marijuana raids.

There are many Republican congressman who now regret the liberal spending ways while they were in control of congress.

Many came to Washington and got seduced by the easy fundraising by lobbyists who promoted pork barrel spending.
