View Full Version : Where are our best shots to win next (conventions)?

We've all learned that you need to have at least a plurality of delegates from 5 states to be nominated from the floor at the National Convention. Dr. Paul successfully captured 1 last night when he took 20 delegates from Minnesota with hopefully more to come.

We've seen shenanigans in Wyoming and North Dakota already, and while the campaign did not bank on Wyoming, ND had to hurt. I don't know if we count Colorado as having a plurality because that is combined with Santorum's delegates.

1. Iowa
I see Iowa as a guarantee for another plurality, if not, a majority since we now control a handful of seats there (and the GOP chair is a Paul supporter).

2. Missouri
We shouldn't be giving up on Missouri either. If they put in the dedication to get to the State convention, we could perhaps come away with a plurality there as well.

3. Maine
Can't forget the amount of controversy surrounding Maine and it's chairman Charlie Webster. I don't know if it was ever confirmed but there were rumors that Ron was going to be there to speak at the State Convention. If he is I hope he gives Webster a can of whoop-ass like he did with those balloons.

4. Nevada
From what I understand we overwhelmingly swept Nevada delegates to the state convention and that they can vote to unbind the delegates at the state convention. Nevada's rules state that these delegates are bound for the first round of voting at the National Convention, but hopefully that changes. Those 14 delegates Romney were awarded by the AP will be long gone come May. I heard Ron Paul is going to speak there.

5. Washington
We've heard a LOT from Washington regarding the unity slate and how Santorum's supporters are rejecting it. The establishment got caught in the act of trying to railroad it for Romney, and now it looks like Santorum's people are aligning themselves with us. It's been a mess over there and it's hard to tell how well we're going to do. The Congressional District conventions are going to be important as they alone will elect 30 out of Washington's 43 delegates to national.

6. Louisiana
There's still 23 delegates to be allocated from Louisiana. Our strategy here is to overflow the congressional district conventions next Saturday as far as I'm concerned. And again, the 20 delegates that were assigned as a result of the primary to Santorum and Romney are all soft-pledged, meaning that they're not forced to vote for that candidate at national.

The CD conventions will select 18 delegates to National. State will select the 20 delegates that were soft-pledged to the candidates during the primary. And then 5 more at-large unpledged. The final 3 go to the superdelegates for a total of 46.

For all we know with superior organization Ron can get a hefty amount from Louisiana as well.

The Maine Republican Party is having this year’s State Convention on May 5th and May 6th, at the Augusta Civic Center.

We MUST get all the MO state delegates to show up to the state convention. Santorum people will align with us there and give us the win IF we all show up. This should be a top priority item.
