This is SERIOUS: Must ACT!!!! Repost and Forward

Open Letter to CNN and Glenn Beck: Ron Paul Supporters are Not Terrorists
Posted November 15th

Dear Sirs,

CNN and Glenn Beck recently aired an inflammatory and misleading piece comparing Ron Paul supporters to terrorists. Mr. Beck's irresponsible association has already led to impassioned responses from the large, peaceful and growing Ron Paul community, including a call to boycott CNN's sponsors (http://dailypaul.com/node/7467/), and an eloquent response from a former US Marine (http://dailypaul.com/node/7514/).

I was heartened by the Marine's response. I fully support and encourage the boycott efforts. With this letter, I am also urging everyone within the Ron Paul community to write directly to CNN, requesting that your network and Glenn Beck issue a retraction, clarification and an apology to Ron Paul and the peaceful Ron Paul community (http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?69) for your wrongful and damaging characterization.

On November 5th, nearly 40,000 hard working Americans donated an average of $98 to Ron Paul's campaign for president, resulting in one of the biggest one-day online political fundraising events ever. We did it because we are tired of mainstream networks such as yours ignoring us. We did it with the intention of making a news splash so large that you could no longer pretend we do not exist. Our efforts succeeded beyond our wildest expectations, but Mr. Beck's recent piece has revealed your true colors.

You did something shameful. You chose to portray 40,000 upstanding Americans as terrorists. I find it tragically ironic that Glenn Beck chose a segment called, "A Nation Divided" to compare the peaceful actions of fellow American citizens to terrorists. Mr. Beck's actions only contribute to the division in this country. Calling this large group of peaceful Americans terrorists is an absolute disgrace, especially in a post-911 America when the Military Commissions Act allows the president, at his sole discretion, to name any American an "enemy combatant." Your network and Glenn Beck may think it is funny to play fast and loose with this kind of language, but I take this very, very seriously. Nothing could be more divisive than to call fellow law-abiding Americans "terrorists." Is this how far your network has sunk in its desperate grab for ratings? Shame on you. Shame on you and your editors, for selling out the foundations of our country so readily and so cheaply.

In his piece Mr. Beck erroneously stated that Dr. Paul's November 5th fundraising was done "to commemorate Guy Fawkes." What is your source for this statement? This statement is factually incorrect, and I hereby request that you produce your source, or retract it. With this single incorrect fact, Beck goes on to spin an entire piece that only amplifies and distorts his disinformation. Later in the piece, CNN's guest, David Horowitz, speaking of Ron Paul, says: "I think it is very significant that he chose Guy Fawkes as an image." This so clearly misinformed that it would be laughable if not for its seriousness. Is it your network's standing policy to allow such woefully misinformed guests on all of your "news" shows? How can you expect informed citizens to believe any of your future program guests if you allow such egregious errors go unchecked and uncorrected? Ron Paul and his official campaign had nothing to do with the organization of this day, so it is impossible that Ron Paul was the one to "choose Guy Fawkes as an image." Please do not assume that all Americans are complete idiots, nor that we will stand by passively as you broadcast such lies.

Your poorly researched, factually incorrect, sensationalist opinion is exactly what is dividing America and driving citizens from networks such as yours to the unimpeachable honesty and integrity exemplified by Dr. Ron Paul and his peaceful campaign for president. I hereby request that you issue a retraction, clarification and apology to Dr. Paul and his grassroots supporters. Without it, your network will continue its accelerating slide towards the realm of complete irrelevance in the minds of informed Americans.

Sincerely,
Michael Nystrom

Readers, please contact CNN directly using this form for the Glenn Beck show. (http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?69) Be polite, but firmly ask for an apology, clarification and a retraction. This is too serious to let stand. I will have more on why this is so serious in the next few days. Thank you all for your support.

I think we've all figured out that it has to do with the new domestic terrorism legislation.

Mine isn't very long, but I think he'll get the point.

"Mr. Beck, I take considerable umbrage to your blanket classification of Dr. Ron Paul's supporters, most of whom are productive and peaceful members of society and contributors to the free market economy, as "terrorists." If non-violently criticising excess and tyranny in our government is the behavior of terrorists, you'd better pause momentarily, and ask yourself if Jefferson, Jackson, and Adams weren't defamed in a similar fashion in their day, by their contemporaries of a Monarchist persuasion, the likes of whom, 200+ years later, you seem all to happy to represent."

guys, I agree with you completely that the glenn beck attack is wretched and threatens our movement should other influential people jump on labeling us scary, but watch it again, he did NOT call us terrorists. He *implied* that very strongly, but if he wants to defend himself, all he needs to do is play that two second part in the middle that says "now, the vast majority of paul supporters take this the way it was intended"... blah blah.

He's saying, as i understand it, that we could be swayed to blow up stuff and start a revolution if fringe elements get ahold of us :) :) :)

The piece was wretched because of the misinformation and random reasonless fearmongering, but don't go overboard and say "glen beck called us terrorists" because, well... he did not, and he can defend himself against that statement.

I sent a letter but did not make any threats.

I was appalled as a Ron Paul supporter being labeled a terrorist. most Americans had never heard of Guy Fawkes before the movie V for Vendetta. most Ron Paul supporters linked November 5th to the movie and not Guy Fawkes, and in the movie ; V who is labeled a terrorist by a oppressive government unites the populace with the idea of Liberty. how the people had sacrificed Liberty for Security and how the remedy was far worst than the poison. V on a single November the 5th unties the people to march through the streets united. the message was very powerful and if you have not seen the movie I recommend watching it so you can discuss this topic with knowledge and not ignorance.

Is there the possibility of a class action suit as to being labeled terrorist. Anyone with a Paul bumper sticker could be attacked or worse be reported to the authorities as a terrorist after learning of our terrorist status on CNN.

Addressing Beck or CNN is a pointless exercise. Those are deaf ears, at best.
Try Beck's sponsors first.

I hear Walgreens stock is in danger of falling rather sharply if they
don't apologize for what Beck said.

My email:

Hey drunk - that's right, you Beck.

Due to your implication that I am a terrorist for supporting Ron Paul, I have ALREADY emailed and/or phoned the following advertisers of yours that I will NEVER again buy a product or use a service of theirs due to your statements and I will tell my family and friends to do the same.

And it is even more intimidating if you see all the connections Walgreens has to terrorism.

Don't take my word for it

Try this for yourself (http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&q=walgreens+terrorist&btnG=Search)

It is so simple, such a shame if Walgreens were to suffer needlessly for something
said under their sponsorship. They probably didn't even suspect it coming...

It's pretty slanderous to label all RP supporters such.

Defamation of character ect.

Sir, i feel that you have done a great disservice to myself and the rest of Ron Paul's supporters. I proudly served in the military and resent being called a Terrorist.

You did something shameful. You chose to portray 40,000 upstanding Americans as terrorists. In closing thank you for continuing to divide our great nation, you and your network make up a perfect reason to never trust the mainstream media. Thank you for proving why Ron Paul's message is so well received on the internet, yet he can't get a fair break on such biased networks...

hope you don't mind me borrowing from your post... :D

SENT!

I am officially boycotting the glenn beck show and all products of its sponsors in response to the allegation that Ron Paul supporters who raised nearly $4 million dollars on November 5th were similar to terrorists or an enemy to their country. Its a disgrace to be insulted by glenn beck in such a manner when Ron Paul supporters are in the midst of trying their best to support a campaign that upholds our constitution and bill of rights when no other campaign promises to do so. We are the real patriots for the American people, glenn beck is a traitor and your network is a disgrace for funding him.

Terrible idea and will not fly in any jurisdiction as a matter of law. It may indeed result in publicity - very poor publicity.

Of course, I want to treat the advertisers with respect and courtesy. Most probably don't even know that they are supporting such a lame excuse for jounalism.

Here is the letter I'm sending them:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to inform you that I will be boycotting your product because you advertise on the Glenn Beck Program on CNN.

Glenn Beck recently made comments on his program that were so offensive to me that I have no choice but to take this action. A video of these remarks is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eg8M2JBIoqo .

Mr. Beck clearly implied that supporters of Republican candidate, Ron Paul are domestic terrorists. Ron Paul and his supporters do NOT advocate the initiation of violence. Mr. Beck's remarks and the remarks of his guests were particularly offensive because Ron Paul is the most supported candidate by members of the military. His implication that our men and women in uniform are domestic terrorists is beyond belief.

I trust that the owners of your company and it's employees do not share Mr. Beck's views, so an immediate and public withdraw of your advertising from CNN will win me back as a customer.

Until Mr. Beck publicly apologizes for these ill-informed and offensive remarks, I will be boycotting your products and vigorously advising others to do the same.

Sincerely,

Jim Babb

you, not being a Ron Paul supporter, egnore your friend Beck ... And calling Ron Paul supporters terrorists has nothing to do with Ron Paul's "rhetoric".
