We have four names on the Constitutional Conservative list for State Central Committee, 3rd District. Counting the vote now. Only four will be elected. Great speeches from them and support from the crowd. Fingers crossed.

Texts being sent to us from Paul delegate advising us how and who to vote for. It helped with the last rules vote we narrowly lost.

Oops maybe i read this wrong as meaning Santorum and Romney auto won it.

I'm not clear what happened with Rules c'ee but the Central Committee looks like conservatives are maintaining control. Romney now that his people were all kicked out were saying people on that committee shouldn't favor particular candidates, mind you the old CHAIR who oversaw counting the votes wrong in Romney's favor would have been a Romney guy, but our guy took his place.

That motion to suspend was to ignore the previous rule we lost the vote on. It now benefits us because we have a Paul supporter on top. But we lost the suspension 2/3rds vote by a hair.

Results of State Central Committee elections:

http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2012/04/21/winners-of-the-iowa-gop-state-central-committee-elections/

3rd District:
(Incumbents Monte Shaw and David Fischer did not seek re-election.)

Gopal Krishna of Polk County, who is a current state central committee member and has declined to say who he caucused for

Joel Kurtinitis of Polk County, a Ron Paul supporter

John Kabitzke of Warren County, a Ron Paul backer

Wes Enos of Polk County, who is a current committee member and worked for the Bachmann campaign

remind me why the central committee is so important?

From Iowa GOP Constitution (http://iowagop.org/constitution.php):

2. The general management of the affairs of the Republican Party in Iowa is vested in the Republican State Central Committee with appropriate direction by state conventions of the Republican Party.

3. The Republican State Central Committee shall have such officers and administrative personnel as it may determine and shall organize its operations to attain the objectives of the Republican Party, and shall have power to adopt Bylaws to carry out its duties and the purposes of the Constitution, provided such Bylaws are not in conflict with the provision of this Constitution or the rules of the Republican National Convention.

4. The Republican State Central Committee shall elect a Chair and Co-Chair who shall be the Chief Executive Officers of the Republican Party of Iowa. The Chair and Co-Chair need not be elected from the membership of the Republican State Central Committee.

Number 4 is very important as the Chairman of the Republican Party is an automatic delegate.

Also, if there is ever a vacancy for National Committeeman or National Committeewoman, the State Central Committee gets to elect someone to fill the vacancy.

The four GOP district conventions are underway in Iowa today and delegates are electing the board members who will govern the Republican Party of Iowa. Each of Iowa’s four district gets four members on the state central committee. They serve two years.

1st District:

Dave Cushman of Dubuque County, a Ron Paul backer

Loras Schulte of Benton County, a Rick Santorum backer

Tony Krebsbach of Mitchell County, who isn’t publicly revealing his caucus vote

David Chung of Linn County, who isn’t publicly revealing his caucus vote

2nd District:

3rd District:

Joel Kurtinitis of Polk County, a Ron Paul supporter

John Kabitzke of Warren County, a Ron Paul backer

Gopal Krishna of Polk County, who is a current state central committee member and has declined to say who he caucused for

Wes Enos of Polk County, who is a current committee member and worked for the Bachmann campaign

4th District
(Incumbent Craig Williams lost his race for re-election. Drew Ivers didn’t seek re-election.)

Kris Thiessen of Clay County, a Ron Paul backer

Tim Moran of Woodbury County, a current central committee member who didn’t caucus this year but worked for Mitt Romney campaign in the past

Jamie Johnson of Webster County, a Rick Santorum supporter

Chad Steenhoek of Story County, who has declined to say who he caucused for

D4 is in now as well. Says we got one there?

The District Conventions are technically suppose to elect delegates to the National Convention one day before the State Convention. However, I believe they can change the rules and allow the election of delegates to occur today. I'm not sure if that's already happened.

We got 1 out of 2 spots for the nominating committee that selects national delegates and I'm told we got 2 out of 2 in district 4 so that's 3/4 and there will be 8 total. That 8 person committee will choose 13 delegates for national with 13 more chosen at state next month.

Awesome job by all our candidates. Particularly satisfying was electing Joel Kuronitis on the first ballot AFTER he openly stated that he is a Ron Paul supporter and is trying to get more youth into the GOP.

It was a darn good day in district 3.

Does that mean if we get 2 more of them giving us 5/8 we could potentially take all 13 delegates that they choose :) If so, I love you Iowa ;)

The Nominating Committee will prepare a slate of 13 delegates to the State Convention. The delegates at the State Convention can then approve or reject the slate. It will be very hard to reject a slate since many delegates will just agree with what's presented to them so yes, if we can control the Nominating Committee, we will have a good shot at winning a lot more delegates.

Out of 8 on the national delegate nominating committee I count 4 Ron Paul, 1 santorum, 1 Romney (shaw) and 2 unknowns. I think they meet and put together their slate of 13 national delegates in 2 weeks, so we should have a better idea of where we stand then.

Karsten

In order to do that, Paul must have a majority of support from at least five state delegations. With states like North Dakota, Minnesota and others on track, his supporters could then attempt to nominate him from the floor.
