Others in key states were more skeptical. In Iowa, expected to be one of the hardest-fought states in November, influential Des Moines radio host Steve Deace isn't ready to promise his vote.

"The audible voice of God will have to give my moral conscience permission to vote for someone who opposes me on everything," Deace said. Romney, he added, "is more loathed by social conservatives than any Republican presidential candidate I can think of."

I agree with him and I think he speaks for a lot of mainstream evangelicals. Christians in good conscience must support the Baptist pro-life OBGYN over against the flip-flopping plastic Mormon.

PS- I have no problem supporting anyone of any religion as long as they understood liberty, but most mainstream evangelicals are not that deep-thinking. They will associate with whoever "connects" with them on that "religious" level. Whenever I talk to evangelicals about Ron Paul at this point, I am always bringing up his faith....and then I get to watch the wheels start turning in their heads:).

Here is a religious leader on Deace's web page saying he won't vote for Romney, whether he is nominee or not. He doesn't know who he will vote for, but not Romney.
