I've been doing a lot of tabling here in California, and obviously Ron Paul has a lot of support.

But we have a problem.

Most Californians don't realize that they must register Republican in order to vote for Ron Paul in the June 5th primary. They are confused because they know that California just switched to Open primaries, but they do not know that they are open for everything EXCEPT the Presidential race, which stays Closed. (Even the Blue Republican video got this wrong at first.) So lots of people will be heading to polls to vote for Dr. Paul only to find that they cannot vote for him.

WE NEED TO GET THE WORD OUT to Californians that they need to Register Republican by May 21st in order to vote for Ron Paul on June 5th. And we need to continually encourage them to do so because for many of them it is ... emotionally difficult.

Here are the things I just did:

1. Posted on Facebook and Google+ ... Californians: To vote for a Republican Presidential nominee on June 5th, you must register Republican by May 21. But right now would be even better. https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/register-to-vote/

2. Tweeted ... Californians: Register Republican now to vote for #RonPaul on June 5th. Peace has its price! https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/register-to-vote/

3. Emailed the political writer of the San Francisco Chronicle and pointed out the confusion among California voters and the potential fiasco on June 5th if people are not educated that they must register Republican to have a voice in the Republican nomination. She responded positively.

We all need to post, tweet, write our local papers, contact our California friends directly, and take other measures to get Californians to register Republican by May 21st.

The above link allows you to fill out the form online, then print it out and send it in. People must choose Republican to vote for Ron Paul. Not-Declared will not cut it.

If Dr. Paul does well in Texas, we could have surge of Ron Paul supporters heading to the polls in California on June 5th. But if we don't do the work now to get them registered Republican, it will be too late.

Yea, unfortunately this isn't just a California problem. I think it's been our biggest problem thus far given who our most likely supporters are (Independents and younger people).

For those unsure about the rules and deadlines for your state, you can check here (DO NOT rely on the campaign's or Blue Republican's webpage):

Yeah, also Democrats had recently let independents vote in their primaries and GOP does NOT. I'm hitting that, too.
