My brother broke cardinal rule #1 last night. He talked to cops.

He had 1 drink at a bar, and he was walking home when 2 cops started following him. They gave him a hard time about being 4 feet away from the marked crosswalk area when he was crossing the street. He apologized, and the cops told him to cross the street properly this time. He explained that there was a no-walk signal and it would be illegal to cross at this time. They demanded he cross the street, now. He said "I am not crossing this [expletive] street."

Oops. Contempt of cop. Mistake #2.

So as they were escorting him to the back of the squad car, they were telling him to walk straight. "I am walking straight", he said. "No, you're drunk" they said as they kick his legs. "Watch out for that curb, wouldn't want you to trip," they said. "I suggest you comply, because those that don't have a tendency to trip on that curb."

Charged with disorderly conduct. 12 hours in jail. Wallet ~$60 lighter (they did leave him one dollar). Phone never to be seen again.

Never talk to cops.

What? He paid them right there? Seems like it is time to target some video on certain enforcers. If they did it like you say they do it all the time.

No, the cops stole the money from his wallet.

Good idea. I might recommend he try to get some video.

Same thing. Either sting 'em or avoid 'em. Avoiding 'em in a city will only get you so far. If they see him again then they'll recognize him as an easy mark.
The reason I avoid them. I'd be in the news either as a D.O.A. or 'Wanted."

I have never talk to cops story.

Just recently my sister's dog died, this was her best friend and she has had depression problems in the past with suicide. This dog helped her turn around her life and she loved it. So she was pretty depressed at that and her therapist and my dad were trying to call her the next morning to see if she was ok but she didn't answer. So the therapist called the police to check on her, so next thing my sister knows a cop is knocking on every door of the house and seeing if their unlocked so she answered the door half asleep. She was talking with the cops and the cop asked if "she ever had thoughts of suicide" which she replied yes, she was expecting another question to follow of "thoughts of suicide recently" which she hasn't. So that right there set into motion the cop calling paramedics to take her to the hospital (which she HATES). Ended up wasting pretty much an entire day trying to get her out of the hospital and her husband took off work because of that. The cop turned the situation much worse than it should of been.

The solution is to never give them anything that's yours. You're not required to if you are just walking on the street. Also, don't say a thing. If this procedure is followed, usually nothing bad will come of the encounter except maybe a ruined night and a court proceeding, which you will likely win handily.

How else are they going to justify shooting unarmed civilians and their pets unless they get an escalated situation?

The cops were jackin' him. They decided what was in his wallet was going to them. It didn't matter whether he talked to them or not. If he hadn't cooperated his head would have met the curb. At least this is my understanding.

I'm pretty sure the $60 was a bonus for their hard work.

Consider it a TIP. They were keeping him 'safe.' Nudge, nudge, ;), ;).

Yeah and I'm sure they're reporting their "tip" to the IRS.

This would be met w/ opposing force from private security in a proper community.

Break away from them, start our own thing, fix the Constitution, and end all the talk. Git 'r done already.

Call it a "booking fee." I honestly have a 64 dollar "receipt" that I will never get my money back for. Not to mention I started with over 300. I am dead serious when I say I will throw out any money I have before I deal with their legal fiascos again.
