I heard he did a bad job as governor, raised taxes, and knew he couldn't be re-elected so decided not to run.

Yeah, I mean the video is cool, and he makes sense. But in other aspects of his political career, I don't think he would be helpful to Ron Paul.

I like him, but he was a political novice and got schooled by state career politicians. I think he just didn't have the stomach for it anymore - this job would be even more brutal.

That might shake up the party a bit too much...

Mark Sanford is my man.

If we don't get the nom this time around with Dr Paul, believe me that the day after the convention votes I'm starting a Draft Sanford push for 2012.

Good thing to know here is that we are gonna get the nom anyway.

The Party revolted in 1980 and I expect it's about to happen again. :D

I agree and am a little disappointed that he and many others have not formally stepped up and done this yet. Are they all waiting for NH? Have any of the people we have discussed as possible VP picks endorsed him yet?

We should write him and "remind" him to endorse RP!:D

The media and politicians hounded Ventura much like they did Clinton and he got fed up with the games.

He's be an awesome VP though. You have Paul the Air Force Captain...and then you have Ventura the Navy SEAL. That would be a tough ticket to beat.

I remember him taking that job as an XFL commentator while he was still in office...

I thought he was loved in Minnesota until he made fun of Christians?
Anyways, I think his mouth would bring way too much negative press towards RPs campaign to justify the selection.

I'm part of the crowd thewould choose Sarah Palin, yeah she saids he wants to finis what she started. Although, if that moment came, who would turn down running for VP.

I agree with others. The negatives far outweigh the positives.

If I remember correctly, Ventura moved to Baja Mexico and said, after the Navy Seals and being the Gov. or Minnesota, he no more interest in returning to public service.

He did endorse Kinky Friedman for Texas Gov. though.

We need Ventura's supporters ... not necessarly his support.

lol

This does highlight an issue. Finding a suitable running mate for Dr. Paul is no easy task since there are very few like him. It sounds like a good case for cloning. :D

Ventura had the potential to be a good governor. All the Democrats and Republicans in the state, as well as the media, were united against him. In fact, I've never seen Democrats and Republicans so united in a cause. Most of his vetoes were overridden. There was a recession (Dot Com Bubble) while he was in office, so of course he got blamed for it.

He was brutally honest, and not in a good way. He would speak his mind without thinking about the consequences, like "religion is a crutch".

He hated the local press. He called them jackals, and actually had "Media Jackal" badges made up and refused to talk to any local press unless they were wearing one of those badges.

He spoke out against his friend Arnold Schwarzenegger when he ran for governor. He took a lot of flak for that, but personally I see it as a good thing, because he was willing to speak up against his friend because he didn't believe in his platform.

Jesse's a lot smarter than people give him credit for, and he's libertarian, but I don't think he'd be a good VP for Ron Paul. I think the public had enough of him in the media while he was governor, so the fact that he's a well known public figure wouldn't be a huge positive. I don't think he'd do it anyway. He's had enough of politics. He could do a lot as a spokesman for the campaign though.

He could add some interesting press to the campaign. Granted he has some problems but we get some publicity.

He doesn't have a college education and there is no problem with that in and of itself but I think Paul should look for the most qualified person to pick as his veep and I can't imagine that person is Jesse Ventura.

Ventura doesn't play second fiddle to anyone which is why he wouldn't consider being anyone's vice president.

Ventura attended Harvard after his stint as governor of Minnesota.
