If you want to have a significant influence in your local GOP, you need to become a Precinct Delegate. This cannot be stressed enough.

Each County GOP organization is made up of Precinct Delegates who are voting members within the County GOP. If enough of our supporters within a county become Precinct Delegates, we will be able to elect County GOP Chairman, Vice Chairman, State Committeeman, etc. who are supportive of the liberty movement.

It is fairly easy to become a Precinct Delegate, who are elected every two years in the primary. The next election is August 7 and the deadline to file as a candidate is May 15.

The key point to know is that MANY positions for Precinct Delegates either don't have anyone running or only one person files as a candidate (in which case, that person wins by default). This means just by filing as a candidate, you will have a great shot at winning without having to do any canvassing. To file as a candidate, all you need to do is fill out ONE form!

Here are instructions to become a Precinct Delegate:

1. Find what precinct you live in by searching here (https://webapps.sos.state.mi.us/mivote/). If you have questions about what precinct you live in, call your County, City or Township Clerk. You can find their contact information here (https://webapps.sos.state.mi.us/mivote/ClerkSearch.aspx).

2. Fill out this Precinct Delegate form here (http://www.michigan.gov/documents/Aff-ID_Precnt_139901_7.pdf). In Box II, make sure you fill in your precinct number, write "Republican" for Political Party and "August 7" for the Date of Primary.

3. Get the form notarized. You can go to your County, City, or Township Clerk who can notarize it for you.

4. Send the form to your County, City or Township Clerk by 4pm on May 15. You can find the mailing addresses here (https://webapps.sos.state.mi.us/mivote/ClerkSearch.aspx).

5. After filing, your name will be placed on the August 7 ballot. If you win, you will become a Precinct Delegate for the next two years.

You can also go to your County, City or Township Clerk and fill out the form in person. They can help make sure you fill out everything correctly.

Each precinct is allowed at least one Precinct Delegate. You can find out how many Precinct Delegates are allowed for your precinct by calling your clerk. That way, if you know other supporters in your precinct, you'll know how many people can file as candidates.

Many people worry about the time commitment involved with the position. All you need to do is attend a couple meetings and County Conventions a year. There really is not too much obligation and even if you don't have the time, you can always resign your position if you find out the time commitment is too much. Please don't let this be an obstacle from you being able to play a role in helping our supporters become the GOP.

Deadline is May 15 at 4pm.

Unless they've changed the rules, your name will be on the ballot even if you are running uncontested, because they allow write-in votes on the day of the election.

Listen to this individual, he speaks the truth.

I bid thee in the name of Ron Paul to Go Forth and Delegate.

In my county 12 out of 19 precincts had no one show up and were not represented at the County meeting.

No matter what just show up to the precinct at the correct time and place, bring a notepad and some paper, and if there is no one else there make a note of yourself, perhaps call the State Republican Party for your State (although ours was not open on caucus day, strange that) and then go to the County meeting if you have one.

If you or you and a couple other supporters simply show up and no one else does you automatically win your precinct, just like that.

For now our County only has 11 of 19 precincts represented by members on the Executive committee, so the simplest strategy to pursue is to find at least one Ron Paul supporter from each of those precincts to get involved in the our County Republican Party. In a perfect world where I/we can convince 7 people to do this the Ron Paul supporters would comprise 12 of the 19 members and that is ~64 percent of the membership. two-thirds is 66% so technically Ron Paul supporters could then assume control of the County Republicans.

However, and I must stress this, you cannot ever even one time lie or cheat or mislead others about your motives or intentions or your goals, or you will not be supporting Ron Paul who is the epitome of integrity. Do not tell everyone everything you know, not at all, and one is free to collaborate with others not in the Republican Party, but there are those who either through stupidity or through deliberate lying may try to use Ron Paul for their own, divisive power grab. At least at the County level in my County the Republicans don't have much power, even our so-called elected officials who ran as Republicans refuse to associate with the County Party and instead have formed a cliche with the Democrats.

Your County will be unique, so your tactics will be unique, but numbers are the foremost concern, he who gets there with firstest with the mostest, as George Patton said, usually wins. But for the sake of Ron Paul's good name do not use him to lie and cheat and bully your way into power, always keep in mind his humility and his willingness to form coalitions with others, and above all put the Constitution and Declaration at the front of what you argue for, not just Ron Paul's name.

Make it so.

May 15 is the deadline to file as a candidate and have your name appear on the primary ballot.

We need Michigan supporters to run as Precinct Delegates! It's easy and the benefits are significant.

From Livingston County: Two years ago, the TEA Party was showing up in force. There were 55 people to be selected to go to the state convention, and twice that many wanted to go, so there were elections. Our local GOP did a good job of getting all 3 factions (establishment, TEA Party and RP) represented.

This year, the TEA Party didn't show up, and the establishment is dwindling in numbers. There were 55 spots open, and only 50 people to fill them. Most of them were us.

On a side note, anybody know what happened in MacComb county? One of the establishment types is butthurt over something - said it was "cheating" to have so many Paul people show up or something.

One week left to file as a candidate for Precinct Delegate.

Please take the time to go to your city, township, or county clerk and ask to file as a candidate for Precinct Delegate. All you need to do is fill out one form and you will have a great shot at being able to influence the GOP at the local level.

I hope the campaign is on top of this because it seems like the grassroots here and on DailyPaul are not interested.

Nice. Do you know if the campaign is making a push for this?

Last time around the push came from C4L. I unsubscribed from all their email lists, though, so I don't know if they're pushing it again.
