This is so incredibly ridiculous. Nothing but a demonstration of power.

Why is Karmageddon spelled with a 'K'?

Here's how they should do it.

1) direct route
2) 1 hearse on the highway like everyone else with maybe a couple of police escorts.
3) no traffic shutdown
4) Bury the body

This cop deserves just as much of a procession as any other normal citizen. I don't think he's so special because he was a victim of a murder like so many others.

Karma was tied up in Austin?

Urban Dictionary:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Karmageddon

A portmanteau of "Karma" and "Armageddon." References "shit hitting the fan" in an extreme way while acknowledging one's contributions to that event.

Specifically, when all the (usually unpleasant) stuff you've done comes back to you at once.

The only way out is to take your licking, batten the hatches, pull back, and deal with the stuff one by one.

Man, my license was revoked for not paying those speeding tickets, my car got the boot from those unpaid parking tickets, bill collectors are calling, work's a mess from my calling in "sick," and my girlfriend found out about the affair when the other girl stopped by our place... Argh, it's karmageddon!

Karmageddon- you own damn fault.

In case anybody like me was wondering what karmageddon with a "K" meant. I guess in this case it would mean the police were causing their own problems? Thought it might answer your question.

I have no idea. And I agree with your other post.

Epic abuse of power. Police chief should be fired, but obviously he'll be praised instead.

This is the kind of thing that will be in textbooks describing the collapse of the United States. Overdramatic? I don't think so. I'm sure the actions of the Gestapo and the Комитет государственной безопасности seemed fairly ordinary while it was happening, also.
