Lots of talk in the St. Louis Area about all the main candidates, even Perry, being main speakers at the NRA convention this week in St. Louis but alas, no mention of Ron Paul.
Was he invited?
Is he attending?
Did he recline an invitation?
IF he wasn't invited I'm not wasting my time and money to attend.

I quit my NRA membership like 7 years ago because it never seemed to me that they were really trying to repeal the 20k federal gun control laws. They were mostly about gun safety and hunting imo but also a fundraising arm of the GOP.

Yeah, the NRA is a full-on lobbying group nowadays. They no longer even care about the support of their members, it's now about getting favors from politicians and using phony issues as a vehicle to gain those favors.

GOA is much better suited to real causes. The NRA will give you a poor rating if you don't support their pet projects that are obviously unconstitutional. Their rating system is a means to cajole unprincipled politicians into doing their bidding.

NRA is powerful and large, but they are all about SLOWLY
compromising away gun our rights. What does hunting
have to do with the 2nd amendment? Nibble nibble.

Try their competition:

NRA is powerful and large, but they are all about delivering a bloc of voters to politicians that give them special favors.

The NRA loathes Ron Paul. Wayne LaPierre said as much to a good friend of mine. See their treatment and bizarre omission of him last election. They did an expose on all the Republican candidates (even minor ones) in one of their magazines, well all of them except Ron Paul and replaced his spot with one of the Democrat candidates.

I'm not sure why RP isn't attending but the NRA board is elected by membership. If you don't like the direction it is possible to vote in people who will change the direction.
