I'm thinking of moving somewhere out in the wilderness where the government can't find me. Anyone have any tips on how I might go about doing this? :D

I'm completely serious.

Advice: don't do it. If you're just thinking about it, you don't have the skills to do it at this time. It's not a game, it is very difficult and very dangerous.

On a scale of 1 to 10 how much do you like hunting?

On a scale of 1 to 10 how much do you like gathering?

On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you like poverty?

If you answered less than 20 to any of the above questions, it's probably not a great idea.

Check these sites, networking through these groups can land you off the books, off the grid, off the radar:

www.wwoof.org/ (http://www.wwoof.org/)
http://www.thefec.org/
http://www.welcomehome.org/rainbow/index.html

Consider yourself a migrant for a bit; travel by the season north and south. Work on your trade skills, sales skills, and barter skills. Learn how to travel with little, yet be effective when you arrive. Keep $1000.

Gypsy around, always choosing the path less taken, and you'll find a new niche.

There are many people that travel from music festival to music festival all summer long; this is another ticket to an out of the box life that just requires some networking skills.

The wilderness ceases to be the wilderness when you set up refuge from the elements.

How old are you and where do you live now?

Town/burbs.......go work on a farm for two years then you'll have an idea of a few of the skills you'll need.

It can be done but it takes a special kind of person and no matter how far out you get the "gov" can find you.
