Youtube video of a PBS documentary from 1987. It documents US support of terrorist regimes and the brutality of US foreign policy. This crap has been going on for decades, and it has been reported to the public, as shown here. Nothing changed back then.

It aired on PBS in 1987 and is as good as anything on the tape (must see). Moyers is a very respected TV journalist who also worked for Lyndon B. Johnson and has a very professional approach. He interviews many different people involved with the CIA and other government agencies. His documentary gives quite an overview of what has actually happened in the last 50 years regarding the CIA and the cold war (including Iran, Guatamala, Cuba, Viet Nam and Chile). He features such people as Ralph McGeehee and Phil Retinger (both former CIA agents), Rear Admiral Gene La Rocque (Ret. U.S.N.), Theodore Bissell (active in the CIA at the time), Sen. Frank Church and many others. Moyers is so very credible. The full video "The Secret Government" is 90 minutes - this segment is edited by Frank Dorrel to 20 minutes."

You think the Revolution is real? You've got a lot of work to do, alot of people to inform. Now is NOT the time to let up.

Warning: This doesn't paint Reagan in good light, and features preaching by John Kerry (in 1987!).

Thank you for bringing this up. This documentary is very powerful. It is extremely relevant today.

Children today do not learn about Iran-Contra. Had they, I'd like to think more of them would have a clearer vision of what is happening to us today. Because it should seem very familiar to anyone who was alive at that time.

And you can watch the whole thing in one part on Google Video BTW:

If you're wondering how this goes on without seeing it all over the televised news and newspapers, you should watch this film:

Manufacturing Consent (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5631882395226827730&q=manufacturing+consent&total=132&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=1)
2h 47m

The film presents and illustrates Chomsky's and Herman's propaganda model, the thesis that corporate media, as profit-driven institutions, tend to serve and further the agendas of the interests of dominant, elite groups in the society. A centerpiece of the film is a long examination into the history of The New York Times's coverage of Indonesia's invasion and occupation of East Timor, which Chomsky claims exemplifies the media's unwillingness to criticize an ally.
It's long, and the link above is poor video quality. I'd recommend renting the video if possible. Always nice to know how Mr. Media is hiding the truth 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Good movie, another good old PBS documentary is 'Money Masters' if you want to learn about the banks and federal reserve.

Somebody should be along any time now to say we shouldn't talk about this.
All this Shadow Government stuff will be bad for the campaign.

I remember Iran-Contra, and have wondered for years about Ollie North.
Now he's a Neo-Con celebrity.

I do not remember the 5th being in the UCMJ.
Couldn't he have been ordered to report his actions to congress?

The funny part about Iran-Contra is that the lame-stream media back then referred to it as a 'conspiracy theory' and anyone who thought the government would do anything like that was a 'nut' and a 'loon.'

Then a C-130 dropping AKs off for the contras got shot down by the Sandinistas in Guatamala and the only survivor was taken prisoner and his image was found on televisions across the globe.

So the lesson learned is: "Please don't talk about conspiracy theories!" :p

I don't understand why so many libertarians are fond of Reagan. He talked a good game but actions speak louder than words.
