I am a tad concerned about this venue being so much smaller. I have my early entry voucher but don't know how early I should show up.

I have my ticket as well and I am planning to be there at 5pm (doors open at 6). I think that might still be too late but I have to work. It sucks!

I emailed the "event host" but never got a response. Here's what sort of worries me: I'm worried that if they are unable to process all of the voucher holders quickly enough, 6:30 PM will roll around and they might say: "OK it's general admission time now" and somehow fail to finish admitting the voucher holders with priority. But this would be incredibly stupid and negligent so I'm pretty sure my concerns are unwarranted.

Make sure you stop by your local city hall or library to pick up voter registration forms for people to fill out! People must be registered Republican (No-Party-Preference is no good) by May 21st.

Here's my experience from UCLA.

Last night the voucher meant admittance into the stadium:

Not having a voucher meant listening from behind the bars:

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7204/7047777417_f1f2974b22.jpg

Or on the knoll or up in the trees:

https://p.twimg.com/ApsPWqMCAAELLlM.jpg:large

They said they were letting people in to the main area from 7-8pm and couldn't guarantee anything after 8pm. Well, I got there right around 8pm but I went up the wrong block so I had to follow the line all the way until the end, probably a hundred yards or so shy of a quarter mile. By the time I got towards the front of the line I could see the line had gotten much bigger and was almost twice as long. They were getting people in pretty quick, I got in just before 8:20 probably. They kept people filing in throughout the ENTIRE speech, he started speaking at around 8:40 and ended just before 9:30.

I had an ok seat, but was not in the center section or up very close.

Of course tonight is a different beast because I heard there is only 2,000 seating capacity.. I don't know what the overflow situation is. So I'd get there as early as you can, but if you can't then go anyway and you may be ok.

Thanks Danno.

One question: were there separate lines for vouchers vs. general admission? The way you describe it sounds more like one line. But that would seems impractical. So I think maybe you're saying that this monster line you were in was exclusively voucher holders. Yes?

Ya the monster line was for voucher holders only, anybody else could just walk up and try and get a good view from outside.

So it sounds like at UCLA they issued enough vouchers to fill the place. For some reason I was thinking that the event planners intended to leave most of the capacity for walk ups. But I was apparently presumptuous and incorrect. I'm gonna try to get there at 5:30 PM.

Unfortunately, moving an event to the largest indoor venue at Berkeley in less than 6 hours is not as easy as you may think. However, we are currently looking at the possibility of getting an outdoor venue. So, stay tuned for updates.

Confirmed on the eventbrite page:

Due to the overwhelming RSVPs for this event, we've moved to a larger location outdoors. The town hall with Ron Paul will now take place at MEMORIAL GLADE on the corner of Hearst Ave and Euclid Ave. If you already pre-registered, you do not need to sign up again. Your initial ticket voucher will still work.

It is kind of amazing, when you consider that it's one of the most left-wing cities in the country. I'm just wondering what's going to happen when (if) some lefties who attend hear the stuff they hate. I can't imagine them cheering for some of his ideas. Lefties, that is.

KTVU Channel 2 (Oakland) (Independent TV Station) had a very fair and detailed piece on Ron Paul's day in the Bay Area. The reporter interviewed several RP Supporters who were sign waving on San Francisco street corners in front of the HUGELY SUCCESSFUL Fundraiser earlier today. Note: Our Supporters are great on Camera!!!

The reporter ended her piece LIVE from UC- Berkeley and reported on the Event Location Change. This report aired from 6:09 thru 6:12 pm PDT this evening. OveraLL, a very fair and informative piece of journalism.

I made a lot of noise... my wife thought it was embarassing but I didnt let her shut me up this time! If anyone there heard a guy shouting "JUST COME HOME" when militarism was brought up, it was me.

Also, when Dr Paul said that if the Patriot act was renamed "The Repeal the Fourth Amendment Act" Congress wouldnt have voted for it... I shouted "THEY WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR THAT TOO"

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul spoke outside at UC Berkeley on Thursday night, telling a chilly crowd of about 1,000 that they need less government in their lives and more leeway to make their own decisions.

That is the largest 1000 person crowd I've ever seen.... more like 3000 or 4000 or more.

yes! i thought that was very interesting. i don't think i've ever heard him approach it so carefully. maybe because the east bay is so liberal, he thought we would be more receptive to that message.

For me, one of the best points Paul made during his speech was that we should not be placing labels on anyone. Race, culture, etc... We are all just individuals who are entitled to the basic freedom to make our own choices. By placing labels on ourselves and others we are only limiting our power.
I think a lot of people forget that. We are all wrapped up in labels, but we forget we are all the same.

We shouldnt impose this message on those who are part of historically victimized groups. Instead, its much more important to internalize the message and to respect all others as individuals. Those who have been discriminated against as a group are rational to identify as a group and struggle against discrimination as a group.

They are rational to do so, but that is not going to solve the problem.
We have to become individuals to ourselves first, stop putting ourselves into a movie role or sterotype or whatever the outside wants to put us in. Then we will begin to see others as individuals.
Who knows, we may even begin to speak the same language and understand one another. But right now, lingo is different for each group, understanding of a word or phrase and the conotations that they have for us in 'group think'.

My trip to Berkeley to see presidential candidate Ron Paul.

I had been working on myself for some time trying to get up the gumption to go in amongst them and see Ron Paul at the UC Berkeley rally. I hadn’t heard back from the reservation people. I had moved to slow for the early tickets and was still on standby.

I saw harikaried’s post (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?370673-Ron-Paul-At-U.C.-Berkeley-4-5-12-Official-Thread&p=4337866&viewfull=1#post4337866I) that the venue had been changed to a larger location. I was off. I checked out Eventbrite ( https://www.eventbrite.com/features/?utm_source=eb_email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=new_attendee&utm_term=learn_more) and printed out a ticket voucher, hit the shower, dressed, grabbed a camera bag, and I was gone.

The traffic from Fremont to Berkeley was stop and go at times. I sort of imagined it was because of everyone going to see Ron Paul. Realistically it was probably just a little daily traffic.

I made it to Berkeley where my Google map showed where the parking garages were and pulled into one. IT WAS TO EASY. I freaked and turned around and headed back the way I came to try somewhere else. Once again I pulled in to one. To EASY! There were only a couple of cars. I read all the rules I could find. Paid the meter for a ticket. Parked out in the wide open. My car was one of the few in the lot. ?

I was there but it was creeping me some. Did I mention it was just too easy?

So I meander off in the general direction I remembered the place being on the map. Holy Cow. I walked over the first little rise and I was already there!

Ron Paul showed up a few minutes later and the show was on.

At some point I asked a lady what time it was and she pointed to the sky over my head. Wow. I’ll bet that comes in handy.

Beautiful place.

As I moved around looking for that Treefolk picture (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?370490-At-least-4-900-expected-for-UCLA-event-%28updated-w-amazing-pics-and-video-inside!%29&p=4336384&viewfull=1#post4336384) like from the UCLA event. I would catch pieces of Ron Paul’s speech.
(More of jtc74's Treefolk.) (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?370490-At-least-4-900-expected-for-UCLA-event-%28updated-w-amazing-pics-and-video-inside!%29&p=4337588&viewfull=1#post4337588)

I have listened to a lot of him on video and knew what he was saying hearing only pieces of his words. I’ll bet some others here can read his lips in some of his pictures. It gave me some piece of mind in being able to move about to try and find some better shots. Still in the back of my mind I worried I might miss something. In his speech the day before at the UCLA rally I had read that he mentioned Obama’s plan to put 25,000(?) drones in the skies over the United States. I would imagine this plan will still go into effect if we allow any other globalist shill in presidential office.

The Blue Meanies (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbEPsz7RwV4) will have their glove or finger in the sky.

http://photos.imageevent.com/stokeybob/presidentronpaul/TheBlueMeaniesgLOVE.jpg

I was kind of to excited to do any one-thing right. To busy listening to frame a shot and to busy finding a shot to listen. I did notice that traveling around there were spots where the sound was dead and easy to weasel in with a camera. Other smiling people had noticed and were there with their cameras also.

http://photos.imageevent.com/stokeybob/presidentronpaul/DSC_5589sw.jpg

It was nice to see some of the members of Ron Paul’s family. I think I saw Rand Paul in an earlier picture. Here is his wife and niece?

He’s been holding out!

http://photos.imageevent.com/stokeybob/presidentronpaul/DSC_5601sw.jpg

Before I knew it she was gone…

http://photos.imageevent.com/stokeybob/presidentronpaul/DSC_5622sw.jpg

and it was over.

P.S. I didn't know she was married!

http://photos.imageevent.com/stokeybob/presidentronpaul/DSC_5623sw.jpg

I hope others get a chance to see Dr. Ron Paul like we did.

Maybe some of the rallies can be set up to make a day of it and get a chance to enjoy each other more. Maybe a little music? (Insert raising wiggle of the eyebrow thing here.) Maybe a few booths so we can spread our propaganda and mess with each other’s minds a little more. No reason for all of us to hit and run. I don’t blame Ron Paul and his family for getting in and taking off so fast. After all they may be on their way to another rally (Maybe your way!) AND then… on to the Whitehouse.

I can’t think of a more deserving man.

P.S. My car was still there!

It was all just to easy.

I just watched the speech for Berkeley and it gave me chills. Berkeley loves Paul. My favorite line was "In your twenties if you aren't a liberal, you don't have a heart. In your fourties, if you aren't conservative you don't have a brain. Why can't we have a heart and a brain." :D

Great quote. I was there but I knew I was missing a lot of good stuff. Thanks maxoutco.

So Zellerbach holds 2000, and it wasn't a large enough venue...

What is an accurate crowd estimate? 3000?

The SJ Mercury News (toxic) reported 1100, so it must have been at least 3 times that amount.

On a related San Jose note:

I broke-up the San Jose City Hall Occupy Protest, by showing up with a Ron Paul Revolution t-shirt.

It's a panorama from my phone! sorry if the quality isnt all that great. i was trying to get as good a photo as i could of the crowd from where i was. i'm only 5'5" so it was hard to get a good angle!
my phone "stitched" the photo together for me.... i noticed the lighting is different on one side of the photo too.

I would have never noticed a misalignment. I didn't know a phone could do that.

RP won't win California without us "libtards". Quit acting like you're sooo high and mighty and only your view of the world is correct. People like you are why I can't get some of my friends to switch from Democrats to Republicans to vote for Dr. Paul. Vile pieces of crap who think everyone else is wrong and take it upon themselves to talk down to other human beings.

An interesting note about his speech was that when he discussed socialism and sharing wealth, he approached it from a very respectful point of view... that intentions are good and people are trying to help others.

I dug it when he alluded to the real reason for attacking Libya and Iraq, and the current zeal for the idea of attacking Iran, was that these oil countries were on the verge of no longer accepting the U.S. dollar. Catherine Austin Fitts has alluded to the idea that U.S. military might is what actually enforces the continued acceptance of the dollar. This was almost an "Alex Jones moment" for Dr. Paul.

Your exactly right. It is going to take us all pulling together to restore liberty and the rule of law. Stopping all of the wars should in itself rally us together.

This 'picture' is a collage? Look at the older man in the blue shirt wearing glasses front row.His shirt is infront of the girl and his head behind.Plus his head is 5? times larger than hers.

The event was open to the public. There were plenty of folks there that looked to be in their 40's, 50's, and 60's. This is a good sign.

Update: oops. Sorry S.Shorland I thought you said "college" rather than "collage."

The Paul campaign claims it was a record-shattering 8,500+ people in attendance! http://www.ronpaul2012.com/2012/04/06/ron-paul-with-8500-plus-voters-at-uc-%E2%80%93-berkeley-shatters-town-hall-meeting-attendance-record/

That's a little more than a thousand, which the news reported. lol

I agree. And instead we have people on the right that are one-issue anti-abortion voters and on the left we have people that are one-issue pro-choice voters. The powers-that-be have done a great job of creating the false left-right paradigm and pitting the citizenry against one another on "wedge" issues, while their plunder of America's wealth and freedoms continues seamlessly year after year.

They were there in case nobody showed up. When they saw that there were thousands of people, they decided there was no story.

Also, after reading that post and the post around it to see if it was commenting or furthering negative remarks on liberals I have to say- you're just being over sensitive. Of course there are idiot "liberals", just as there are idiot "conservatives". They voted for Obama and Bush II respectively. And Occupy was definitely filled with many of these type of blind followers.

That makes sense. It looked like a lot of equipment to move to just park it, though that probably happens pretty often.

Now the only thing a little odd about them is that the trucks are a big blank canvas that usually has a station being advertised on it. Maybe they are subbing out the transmission work to private contractors? Maybe leasing the equipment?

Hey harikaried. Thanks again for posting about the change in location. That made it happen for me.

IPhone will do that also with an app called "Photosynth"

I've actually got 360 degree views on some of my shots, which look much cooler in the app cause they make it continuous, but it still looks pretty cool on PC.

To get the full effect, zoom in on this image and scroll around and it will look like you are looking around, rotating your head in the stadium:

You can see some of the imperfections on the things up close, but the things further away look better.

These work even better for panoramic shots of nature, and they also work pretty good indoors... the bigger space the better

I got there about 10 minutes late and was in such a rush to leave my car that I didn't grab my sweatshirt thinking it wouldn't be that bad (I drove from a town further inland where it had been warm), but I wound up freezing my ass off the whole time. I was excited to be there though, so it didn't matter much. It seemed like the crowd grew in size as the speech went on, so I suppose other people were late as well. Some people even managed to climb on top of a moving truck to get a better view about halfway through. There were quite a few people at tables and people holding signs trying to get people to register to vote, which I was happy to see. Maybe it was some of you guys? Anyway here are some snapshots

lol no snow, just that cold air blowing in from the coast. Finally got a video uploaded of the crowd chanting for Paul after he had stepped back into the library when his speech was finished and took a few people in for autographs/pictures; we all wanted more but unfortunately we all didn't get to go in :(.
