By claiming party affiliation at the convention you will not be able to vote in another party's Primary or Run-off election. Each Senatorial District will be electing their Delegates and Alternates to the State Convention.

HCRP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

SENATE DISTRICT (SD) CONVENTION

Saturday, APRIL 21 - your choice of 2 shifts

Grace Community Church, 14505 Gulf Freeway, Houston TX 77034

Over 100 HCRP volunteers are needed to hand out site maps, help with traffic
flow indoors and out, register attendees, distribute box lunches, help the
Convention run smoothly, and clean up afterward. When you volunteer your
meal is free, but it must be reserved in advance. Volunteers may also serve
as Delegates to the Convention.

Please respond right away if you can help. Volunteer orientation and task
assignment for the first shift is at 7 AM Saturday, April 21 (yes, that’s
AM, folks), because event registration starts at 8 am. First shift is 7 am
to 1:30 pm; second shift is 1:30 to 7 p.m. More volunteers are needed for
the first shift than for the second. Please indicate if you will work
Registration (details below). In the SUBJECT line of your response, please
say: SD Conv, your name, 1st shift or 2nd shift, and Registration (if
applicable).

The SD Convention is a great opportunity to participate in “grass roots”
politics. All eight Harris County Republican Senatorial Districts (now over
1,000 precincts) will be represented. Details about the Convention are
available at http://www.harriscountygop.com/ . During this bi-annual event,
Delegates help craft Resolutions that will become part of the Republican
Party Platform. When they register, Convention attendees will fill out a
form affirming that they will vote Republican in the Primary Election. This
affirmation is required by law in order to be a Delegate in the Republican
Senate District Convention.

Volunteers from 14 years up are welcome (under 16 must be accompanied by an
adult). High school or college students needing volunteer hours will be
given a letter on Harris County Republican Party letterhead to meet their
class requirements.

SD Convention participants may register with a swipe of their Texas Driver’s
License using “VoteSafe” equipment as is done in Early Voting. “VoteSafe”
training will be provided by Harris County Tax Office personnel before the
Convention date. Volunteers planning to help with Registration must attend
one 45-minute training session on April 16 or 17, at 5:30 or 6:30 pm (not
required for Early Voting personnel who trained during March 2012). Training
location is the Election Technology Center, 11525 Todd Street, Houston.

Victory in 2012 and beyond!

Margie

P.S.: If you have received this email in error, received it more than once,
or want to be taken off the HCRP Volunteer list, please let me know.

There are Ron Paul supporter SD delegate training meetups establshed on Meet Up and Facebook. I would suggest getting on the email list for the one that applies. It seems like the organization for Harris County is scattered at best.

Ya I think so too. There are many meet up groups and facebook pages but there is some kinda disconnect getting it all hashed out. The only thing we can do is make sure that we personally take the time out to get to know the people in our district and do it ourselves. If everyone is doing their part it will be cakewalk but everyone has to make an effort.

Make sure to contact the local RP meetup group. Debra Medina is doing delegate training. Strongly recommend folks to attend.

10:00? Only arrive then if you want to get shut out. We're doing this quazi-caucus style this year. (Please pray for us). GOP unofficially recommends getting there hours earlier. IMO I believe that "official" time is for their Tea Party problem. Tea Party there has been giving them a hard time. Chronicle even reported on their disagreements. Our RP groups are keeping their eyes on this situation.

Make things worse, I've heard rumors from Harris GOP (needs to be confirmed) that more than 1 SD convention will be held at the same location. CHAOS!!! Bring breakfast and lunch. This will be a long one especially with the Tea Party.
