Basically Geoff Davis is mad and trying to tell people that it was meant to look like an endorsement. I guess the establishment doesn't like being used by grassroots candidates. They'd rather push us around.

Comment on the article!

By the way, wouldn't you say Davis used Massie's story for his own political gain? He used Thomas as a Joe the Plumber for his floor speech.

I notice that they fail to mention anyway in which the ad is illegal or in any other way a violation of campaign rules.

The fake outrage is revolting. It was ok for Davis to use Massey in one of his speeches but not ok for massey to use that same speech? Who ARE these people?

I know, it's ridiculous. And all the Webb-Edgington (Trey Grayson type) people are pretending to be mad too. We should be mad at them for how ridiculous they are being, lol. Just another case of establishment vs. liberty... Trey vs. Rand 2.0. So hopefully Thomas destroys them on May 22.

Looks like Thomas let him know prior to the ad running.

The biggest issue is (from my sources in N. Kentucky) was the ad played while Congressman's Davis was at an Alecia WE for Congress fundraiser. Wifey is going nuts on facebook as well. EGG+FACE= pissed off.

Did Davis let Massie know he was going to use his story in a floor speech and ask for Massie's, permission and consent to do so?

Davis is only mad because his hand picked candidate is now getting worse press: http://www.therepublic.com/view/story/08e2cc05069f423ba14ef0eb7bc5cf12/KY--Kentucky-Congress/

This was a stroke of genius. Everybody is talking about this. This event put Thomas Massie's name in the households of the average Kentuckian. Controversy (if you can call it that) is good at this point, because it will draw people in to this race...and when people see Thomas' record, they will know he is the real deal. The other candidates are faking this outrage because they don't have a record like Thomas Massie, so they have to try to get in their digs on this minor issue.

Mandy Connell spent probably more than an hour talking about this today (and defended him). Listen here: http://www.whas.com/cc-common/podcast/single_page.html?podcast=MandyShow&selected_podcast=Mandy_Hour_2_4-2-12_FIN_1333380556_20934.mp3

It's all good folks. Any press is good press at this point. Once Kentuckians get to know Thomas and his record, the choices will be clearer...and you can expect the establishment forces to do the same things to Thomas they did to Rand.

The only thing that possibly scares me is the over-the-top reaction of Davis and his wife. It just seemed like too much for some reason. But I think this issue will wash away and what will be left in the wake is Thomas name being talked about more than ever. It's all good things imo.

You have to remember Geoff Davis does not like Rand Paul. This is the power struggle. Good news, the man who created Reins Act, Lloyd Rogers, is supporting Thomas Massie and he's one of ours. So we should be good. http://www.teapartypatriots.org/blog/the-reins-act-and-lloyd-rogers-a-tea-party-success-story/

"The reason she did not vote is simple," Duke said. "Webb-Edgington was in Washington D.C. engaging in campaign activities for her congressional race. This happens just days before a critical FEC fundraising deadline for Webb-Edgington."

lol...Alicia's up in DC sniffing around that establishment money huh? Weak.

Massie responds via media (Although we have two candidates in the race who post on this message board. One openly and one who acts friendly on here and then has his son call us paultards, Hi Marcus Carey):

“I apologize to Congressman Davis for any misunderstanding regarding the commercial my campaign ran during the Final Four game. The video and audio used in the commercial are from a public speech made by Congressman Davis in November 2010 on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. In the Congressman’s speech to successfully promote the REINS Act, I was flattered to discover that he leveraged the story of my background, education, invention, success, return to Kentucky, unique energy solution for our Fourth District, and anticipated encounter with the regulatory structure.

“Speeches made by elected officials on the floor of the House are public domain and do not require a license or permission to rebroadcast. I was therefore proud to share the Congressman’s sincere and complementary remarks of me in our first television commercial. To ensure that the Congressman’s remarks were not misconstrued as a political endorsement of my current candidacy, I was adamantthat the date of the speechh appear on the screen for thhe entire time Congressman Davis is seen giving the speechh. Because the date of his remarks predate this congressional race, no endorsement is implied.

“In today’s political climate, where we endure countless negative ads, it is interesting that an ad conveying only kind words about one person from another could be considered inappropriate. Ia m open to making improvements to the commercial in an attempt to address the Congressman’s concerns.”

He is now officially on my list. I only get paid every month or so and up until now I have only donated to RP. That's going to change.

The local media has picked up on the story. Could use some positive comments and perhaps a link to the youtube video. More earned media for Massie! :D
