Glendora Police are continuing to investigate an officer involved shooting earlier this morning after officers responding to an alarm call came face to face with the owner's Rottweiler and had to take it down.

The alarm call was made around 1 a.m. in the 1100 block of East Juanita Avenue. The home owner's security system activated and Glendora officers arrived to investigate the home, police said.

The owner was not home at the time of the incident, but was later notified.

According to a follower of the Glendora Patch crime Twitter feed, around six shots were heard in the area of Juanita and Valley Center avenues. The responding officer said "Shots fired, one dog down," according to police scanner reports. What sounded like a whimpering dog could be heard in the background.

According to authorities, the property has a very large backyard. When officers entered the property, they were charged by the large Rottweiler and tried to escape it. Officers continued to evade the dog, with the animal in pursuit. Officers made an attempt to subdue the dog with a Taser, according to Lt. James DeMond.

With the dog continuing to pursue the officers, they made the choice to fire on it, DeMond said. It was unclear if there was more than one dog on the property.

DeMond was unsure as to what triggered the alarm.

They ran from a dog? And it chased them? Shocking! Where do they get imbeciles like this?
