You never heard of those? They have been around for years. It is common practice in a lot of areas.

PBA cards were like gold in the northeast years ago, but I had never heard of them being quite so, blatant I suppose.

I would be curious to know who owns the company. Maybe a union?

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to give one of these to an officer?

So much for equal justice under law. Wonder how they determine if your actually a relative or family member?

They don't, not that I can see.

I tried to order some and got all the way to payment and the site never asked for any kind of verification if you were, in a fact a FoC.

Since when does government law have anything to do with justice?

Justice relates to ethics and morality. Law does not.

it's not necessarily a joke, just a private company making cards for policemen to pass around on thier own dime (or if some offices wish to purchase them)

If you have badge on you handy, you won't need this junk.

In San Diego the police had a policy of not ticketing each other or any of each others family members. I was kind of taken back when I first heard about it. I think it was to keep petty wars from breaking out amongst the officers. I would like to think it worked out well all around and more good came out of it than anything else.

That said that card is pretty dang annoying to look at. Someone pointing that thing at you is just asking for a beating.

P.S. I took a gander at the website selling them. They have others much less offensive. Wouldn't you just remember the name of your family member and drop that? Maybe carry one of their business cards?

here's an idea for people who hate cops, make these yourself, I doubt these can be patented, set up your own site in competition with them.
Make money off police officers AND know where they live.

generally these cards that you get have the phone number of the officer you are related to on them. Cops dont always follow through, but sometimes they do. I guess it really doesnt matter either way.

In our area they give these to family members etc., speeding turns into seat belt tickets.

Cops ALWAYS look out for each other. No one else.

I have had military friends tell me they get the same treatment from cops. Pulled over and never charged as soon as they mention they served.

Pretty much. I was heading into the shop one day (all ready in ODU's) and was pulled over. I think I was going something like 10 or 15 over and he just gave me a warning and thanked me for my service. There is definitely deferential treatment for 'their own' and Armed Forces members as many cops now-a-days are ex-military coupled with the fawning over the Militaristic Nationalistic State. So, yeah.....

So what that is telling me is, if you served in the military, or are a friend or family member of a cop, you too can be above the law?

What I want to see is a cop be a friend to liberty and uphold his oath to the constitution--period!

That's pretty much it, donnay. A uniform means you are serving the country/community. A friend or family member means you support those that serve the country/community. A citizen. Well, you just pay the bills.
