The best revenge to all the GOP dirty tricks: take over the party.
That means that we stay involved. 2012 is NOT the end. We need to stay involved.
I was campaign director for ND in 2008. We got hammered. RP did well in the caucus (first state to win more than 10%, he got 22%, tying with McCain.) but when the state convention came, RP supporters only filled 25% of the state delegate seats. Then when the national convention came, party leadership stole the 11 delegate votes bound to RP. They said they wanted a "united voice" for ND. They broke party rules but there was nothing we could do about it.
In the 4 yrs since then we have been slowly but surely been taking over the party. Right now we have 3 (out of 47) district chairmans, another 5 who are dist Vice Chrmn, another 5-7 who are on the dist board. One of our dist chrmn is also on the state Exec Board. He has almost single-handedly been able to thwart most (but not all) of the GOP dirty tricks in this cycle. And the dirty politics this year were so blatant that in those districts RP supporters have vowed to OWN those districts come the next reorganization meetings in April 2013.
IOW, this is the last election cycle that the Status-quo, neo-con, statist GOP is going to keep liberty from advancing. But it can only happen when we stay involved, when we take our seat at the table.
