Gas prices peaked under Bush, then plummeted due to a recession, hence the reason they were so low. So claiming Bush was responsible for low gas prices is disingenuous, along with Obama making them high. It's simple supply and demand.

Unfortunately some people don't understand this and believe it when the other candidates claim that as president they could lower the price of gasoline. If they subdise the price with government subsidies using our tax dollars I guess they could. Hugo Chavez does that.

Nominally, yes. Realistically, oil prices haven't changed that much (speaking in trends, not market fluctuations). It's simply the reflection of the devaluation of your FRN.

Yes, in other words the fluctuations in the price of gasoline has more to do with the supply and demand of money than it does the supply and demand of gasoline.

And the wars.

Perhaps if we increase our production of gasoline the price will go down. Build that pipeline from Canada and add refineries. But we are currently producing an excess and are net gasoline exporters so we already make more than we can consume.

NEW YORK (AP) – For the first time, the top export of the United States, the world's biggest gas guzzler, is — wait for it — fuel.

By David J. Phillip, AP

Measured in dollars, the nation is on pace this year to ship more gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel than any other single export, according to U.S. Census data going back to 1990. It will also be the first year in more than 60 that America has been a net exporter of these fuels.

Just how big of a shift is this? A decade ago, fuel wasn't even among the top 25 exports. And for the last five years, America's top export was aircraft.

Ya, gas was a lot cheaper when we got it from Middle Eastern countries who we invaded or installed dictators in.

Not to mention this seems to be a signal of a weakening dollar compared to other foreign currencies.

Well , you could , probably , take gas from 4.15 to 2.40 if you did away with all blend requirements and suspended Federal and state tax on it. The dollar being weak is a major contribution to oil over $100 and that is only going to get worse....

When you look at what Obama has done to the debt, I feel it fair to call it Obamagas the remainder of your lives .
